After ten minutes, Li Xue realized something was off. Her first reaction was that the driver was taking a detour. She could only remind him not to overdo it; after all, her life was in someone else's hands, and provoking him wouldn't be wise.
"Driver, you're taking the wrong road," she said.
"No mistake," he replied.
"I've been to my home many times before. I'm very familiar with the route," Li Xue stated.
The driver remained silent as the route increasingly strayed from the usual path.
Li Xue did not realize that something was amiss.
The taxi driver looked quite young, with a momentary shadow crossing his face.
She then glanced at the driver's work ID on the windshield, and the picture on it was not of the same person at all.
Li Xue stealthily took out her phone from her bag, preparing to call the police.
But abruptly, the driver slammed on the brakes—
"Ah!" Li Xue was thrown against the front seat, and her phone fell to the floor.
