063: Maximum of two children

And so, Mrs. Du was treated to a dose of harsh reality, resulting in another chaotic scene at home.

Her dad then asked, "Do you not want a little brother?"

His question gave her a headache. Wasn't the decision whether to have a little brother up to you adults? Why ask her?

Her grandparents too, were always telling her to talk to her dad, try to get him to reconcile with her mom.

As if she was in any position to make decisions about the adults' affairs, like a child can take charge.

But the truth is, children can't change certain adult decisions. Whether her parents would get back together was something she had absolutely no say in. Once adults make a decision, children can only follow it.

So, from a young age, she knew how difficult it was to change others, and what she could do was to hold on to what she could and not trouble others or herself.

Just like her dad giving her allowance.

If he was willing to give, she would try harder to get more.
