Chapter 2: A VIP Comes to the Hospital

A downpour extinguished the scorching heat of the afternoon.

In the VIP lounge of Ci'an Hospital, a prominent figure suddenly arrived.

President Zhao personally came out to greet him.

At the entrance, President Zhao called over a doctor to ask about the situation inside.

The doctor stammered, "It's Lu, Lu Lingxiao…"

Upon hearing this, President Zhao broke into a sweat and asked with furrowed brows, "Why has this gentleman come?"

It wasn't unreasonable for President Zhao to be frightened; Lu Lingxiao's fame was monumental.

The status of Lu Group within the country was second to none, and with the Crown Prince's multifaceted background, if he so much as frowned, everyone would suffer the consequences.

The doctor quickly explained, "It seems there was a serious error in the obstetrics and gynecology department. They mixed up Mr. Lu's… with a lady who was preparing for artificial insemination. Now, Mr. Lu has found out about the incident."

This time, President Zhao's legs turned to jelly.

He braced himself and pushed open the door of the VIP lounge, to be met with Lu Lingxiao's expressionless face.

Lu Lingxiao's appearance was critically perfect, almost impossible to fault, sharp and stunning.

Referring to the gentleman as stunning was due to a birthmark below the corner of his right eye.

The birthmark was light, slightly red, and resembled the tail end of a phoenix's feather brushing past the corner of the eye, not only failing to detract from his looks but actually adding to them.

He was seated in a single armchair, with his long legs crossed, making the otherwise expensive chair seem subdued.

His presence was naturally overwhelming.

President Zhao forced a smile, "If I had known it was you coming, I should have gone out to meet you. It's truly negligent of me, Mr. Lu."

Lu Lingxiao couldn't be bothered to waste a word with him, "Within 10 minutes, I want to have that woman's information."

Ye Xi vomited everything in her stomach, dazed as she walked out of the emergency area, only to be stopped by a heavy rain.

There was clearly an umbrella in her bag, but she didn't want to open it.

Like a zombie, she reached the doorway, but a man who suddenly appeared from behind brushed against her shoulder.

The man grabbed her elbow, leaned down slightly, and asked, "Are you okay?"

Ye Xi looked up and met the man's gaze, his strikingly decisive face reflected in her eyes.

Ye Xi pulled her elbow out of the man's hand, "I'm fine."

The man didn't linger, turning to walk out the door.

At the same time, a black umbrella promptly covered his head, escorting him all the way to a black luxury car before he got in and the car drove away.

...

In the car.

Assistant Xiao Qi ended a phone call and turned to Lu Lingxiao, "President Lu, the whole situation has been clarified."

Lu Lingxiao, with his eyes closed as if resting, didn't even open them, "Speak."

"It was Miss Sun's mother, who is engaged to you, who orchestrated this. After Miss Sun became vegetative following a car accident, her mother worried that her daughter wouldn't be able to marry into the Lu family again. So, the night you returned to the country, she meddled with your food and drink, then arranged for the hotel cleaning staff to retrieve your... sample to send to the hospital, planning to impregnate Miss Sun with your child through artificial insemination."

Upon hearing this, Lu Lingxiao opened his eyes.

Xiao Qi continued, "I've spoken with the doctors. They said that although Miss Sun has lost her ability to move independently, her physical condition allows for successful artificial insemination and that at full term, all that's needed is a cesarean section to safely deliver the child... It's just that, unexpectedly, the hospital mixed up the sample, leading to today's incident."

After Xiao Qi finished, Lu Lingxiao snorted from his nostrils, "Very well."

Xiao Qi, fully aware of the deep significance behind the words "Very well," knew that the Sun Family was in trouble.

Lu Lingxiao looked down at the information still in his hands, focusing on the name at the top, and repeated it, "Ye Xi…"
