Chapter 17

Dinner was finally finished under Daniel's intense gaze and Zervini's absent-mindedness. He still accompanied her for the meal, but such companionship seemed somewhat forced.

When they walked out of the restaurant, it was almost nine o'clock. His phone rang again.

He seemed to get a lot of calls, most of which he answered in front of her. But this time, he let go of her hand, walked to the side, said a few words softly, then came back, took her hand again, and walked towards the car.

"I'll take you home..." Daniel didn't look at her, slipped into the car, started the engine, and drove away from the restaurant.

When Zervini got home, Henry was coming downstairs. Seeing her, he quickly put on a big smile: "Zervini is back? Come here, dear..."

"Dad..." Zervini also smiled. It was rare to see her father so cheerful since she returned home, which lifted her spirits as well.

"Zervini, when did you meet the president of Harris Group?"

"Empire" Nightclub

Daniel's tall figure walked into the dazzling and noisy nightclub, and Chi Yu waved at him from the other end. Surprisingly, besides Chi Yu, there were also Rong Haoen, Yu Ling, and even Cang Mu present.

"What wind blew today? Even the boss is here? Where's Phantom? Isn't she always inseparable from you?" Daniel sat down casually.

"And where's your darling? Didn't bring her either?" Rong Haoen looked at him with a half-smile.

"When have I ever brought her to meet you guys..." Daniel poured himself a drink and downed it in one gulp, the amber liquid flowing down his throat.

"Hey, Silver Fox, have you changed your taste recently? The girl you had dinner with today doesn't seem like your type..." Chi Yu said with a big mouth, "She looks more like Blue Lion's type..."

A cold glint flashed in Daniel's eyes, and his sexy lips curved slightly: "You really have eyes as sharp as an eagle..."

"Hey Blue Lion, when will Silver Fox introduce her to us? He has so many female friends, one more won't make a difference..."

"When did you become a matchmaker..." Daniel glanced at him coldly, "Besides, does Blue Lion need me to introduce anyone to him?"

Chi Yu shrugged nonchalantly: "You don't have to sound so righteous, you just can't bear to part with her, right?"

"Even Silver Fox has things he can't part with?" Cang Mu's cold voice sounded.

Zervini pushed away the person close to her, jumped off the bed with the blanket, and quickly ran towards the door.

Daniel's large hand grabbed her, pulling her into his arms: "Where are you going..."

Only then did Zervini realize, yes, she was at home, in her own bedroom. How did this pig-man get into her room?

"Let go of me..." She jumped out of his arms, shrank to the corner of the bed, and looked at him warily, "How did you get in here? What do you want?"

Daniel put on a charming smile: "I'm your husband, how do you think I got in..."

His words made Zervini's face turn pale: "You told them? Does my dad know?" Oh God, he must have told them, otherwise, how could he get in? Oh my God, what will Dad think?

Although she had asked him not to reveal their relationship, seeing her so eager to distance herself from him infuriated him. Being the wife of the dignified president of Harris Group, did she find it disgraceful? He didn't believe that Henry wouldn't like him as a son-in-law.

But...

"Do you think I'm stupid enough to say it? I don't want to invite trouble..." He restrained his smile, stood up, patted his slightly wrinkled clothes, looked at her sitting on the bed with the blanket, and said, "I'm just your friend, your dad invited me for dinner. Now..." He smiled charmingly, "Zervini, get up..."

His voice had a hint of seductive charm. Hearing him call her name, she couldn't help but blush and her heart raced.

Daniel glanced at her, then turned and walked out of her room gracefully.

Zervini stared blankly at his tall figure. How could Dad think they were just friends? Friends? Could friends just barge into her bedroom? Wasn't he afraid that his daughter might be sleeping naked? Or... did Dad think that was what friends do... What was he thinking?

Zervini irritably ruffled her hair, threw off the blanket, and rushed to the bathroom.

Walking down the hallway, she heard Zoey's sickly sweet voice.

Zervini walked down the stairs with a dark face and saw the two figures snuggled together on the sofa. She raised her head and walked past them as if she didn't see them, heading to the kitchen.

"Hey sis, you're finally up?" Zoey approached her with a fawning expression, "Oh sis, who did you go out with last night? Look at you, you haven't recovered yet..." Her exaggerated reaction made Zervini frown instinctively. She glanced sideways and met his gaze. His face wore a playful smile, and Zervini's face turned red under his gaze. Ignoring Zoey, she hurried past her and fled into the kitchen.

Zoey, having achieved her goal, coyly returned to Daniel's side, opened a photo album, and showed him pictures of her childhood, casually asking, "Daniel, are you and my sister good friends? How did you meet?"

Daniel had no interest in the photos in front of him. His mind kept replaying her expression when she came downstairs. Pretending not to see? Does that mean she doesn't care?

Zervini, do you really not care about me? He smiled, feeling pleased, and listened to Zoey's chatter.

"My sister spent a few years in America and became so Westernized, so open... Daniel, you have no idea, she came home late at night the day she returned. And..." Zoey lowered her voice and glanced towards the kitchen.
