The Soulstone pulsed against his chest, harder now, its rhythm quickening. He could feel its power building, resonating with something in the air. The creatures seemed to sense it, their cries growing agitated.
"What's it doing?" Luna asked, staring at the faint glow emanating from beneath Heizen's shirt.
"I don't know," he admitted. "But I think it's about to tip the scales."
The wind howled through the rocks, carrying with it a strange hum—a sound that seemed to come from deep within the earth itself. Heizen gripped the Soulstone through his shirt, feeling its energy coursing through him. The creatures shrieked again, this time in fear, and began to pull back, their wings flapping frantically as they retreated into the night.
Luna stared in disbelief. "They're leaving?"
Heizen exhaled slowly, his pulse still racing. "For now."
