Tunde shivered as Tosin's words hung in the chilly night air like a ghostly presence. "You are a smart guy, Tunde". You have potentia. But you are blind to the real game being played here. Let me show you the truth".
As Tosin's eyes gleams with an unsettled intensity, Tunde felt a shiver run down his spine. Suddenly, a loud crash echoed from nearby alley, followed by muffled voices and scuffling footsteps. Tosin's gaze flicked towards the noise, and for a moment, his mask slipped revealing a glimmer of fear.
"Meet me at the old oak tree in the quad at midnight,"
Tosin whimpered hastily, before vanishing into the darkness like a phantom.
Tunde's mind raced with questions. What was Tosin hiding? What did he mean by "the real game"? And what was the significance of the old oak tree? Little did he know he was about to be ensnared in a web of deceit, where allegiances were tested, and loyalties were forged in the fire of danger.....
As the days went by, Tunde found himself growing in creasing by paranoid, his mind racing with worst-case scenarios. He began to distance himself from Sophia, from his friends, from everyone. The darkness that had been lurking beneath the surface of the campus was now closing in around him, and he was powerless to stop it.
Tosin's influence had taken root, and it was spreading fast. Tunde's world was crumbling and he was trapped in a living nightmare from which he couldn't awaken. After some lone time, he calmed his raging mind and decided to pray about it. The next day met him shivering like a wet chicken that has no shelter on his student bed. As he was still reminiscing about what happened yesternight, he heard a knock on his door, he hesitated at first but he later opened up.
A course mate pad him a visit because he wasn't present in class for complete two days for fear of anxiety and fear of the unknown. Olayemi, his course mate asked him how he's fairing since that's the rumor going on in his department that maybe he was slightly indisposed, they weren't sure anyway.
Tunde answered in the affirmation to indicate he's fine. His course mate left after spending an hour with him but not without leaving him a warning;
According to him, he told him to be careful of campus wolves. His visit is harmless but has a big purpose because he also belong.
As Tunde's paranoia intensified, Sophia's behavior became increasingly erratic and sinister. She would appear in his dorm room at odd hour, her eyes gleaming with an otherworldly intensity. She'd whisper strange phrases in his ear, her breath cold and rank.
Tunde tried to push her away, but she'd laugh maniacally, her grip on his arm like a vice.
One night, Tunde woke up to find Sophia sitting on his bed, her eyes aglow with an eerie light. Tosin's waiting for you," she hissed, her voice barely human. Tunde tried to scream, but his voice was frozen in his throat.
Suddenly, the room was filled with dark figures, their faces obscured by hoodies. Tosin stepped forward, his eyes blazing with malevolence. "You should have stayed out of this, Tunde", he sneered. "Now, you are one of us .... forever".
His thoughts running wild. All of a sudden, he heaved a deep sigh.
Just as Tosin's gang closed in, a blinding light illuminated the room, repelling the dark figures. Tunde took advantage of the distraction to break free from Sophia's grasp and make a run for it. He sprinted out of the dorm, the light guiding him through the deserted campus streets.
Olayemi just stared hard at him not knowing what to say to him, his mouth agape. Obviously, his body is just present in the room, his thoughts has went more than the room.
He finally reached the university chapel, where the light seemed to emanate from. Inside, he found a mysterious figure cloaked in shadows, radiating an aura of peace and protection.
"Who are you?" Tunde asked, his voice shaking.
"I am your guardian", the figure replied, it's voice low and soothing. "You have been chosen to fulfil an important destiny, Tunde. Tosin's gang will not give up easily, but with my guidance, you will overcome their evil plans."
He heaved another troubled sigh and rose up from the bed and took a seat on the stool in front of Olayemi. Olayemi didn't know how to comfort him because his expression turns from confusion to anxiety and concerns.
