Minato looked towards Jiraiya and dismissed him, sighing as he glanced at a photo of the Third Hokage. "All for the good of Konoha," he muttered, turning his gaze back to the village. His beloved village.
The next day, Naruto and his team completed all the D-rank missions. Sakura was preoccupied with her appearance, talking about her hair and trying to look beautiful. Naruto ignored her, while Sai kept an eye on him. Naruto completed every task given, regardless of its nature. Finally, the mission was done, and Naruto looked towards Yamato with a scowl on his face. Naruto had threatened the scared-looking cat they were tasked with retrieving, even throwing some hakai balls that disintegrated several trees, terrifying the cat to the point it wouldn't run away again.
They arrived at the Hokage's office, submitting the cat to the Daimyo's wife. Minato looked at them. "Well, another completed D-rank mission. That would be your 25th mission. I must say, this team is progressing well, Yamato."
Yamato nodded. "Yes, Lord Hokage, my team is working quite well."
Minato glanced at the team. Naruto had a scowl, Sakura was looking into a mirror and sighing, and Sai was trying something with a sweat drop on his back. Minato sighed. "Maybe they need something else to bond together," he thought. He was about to ask for a formal request when something burst through the window—it was Kakashi's dog.
Minato raised an eyebrow as he quickly opened the scroll the dog carried. His eyes widened slightly, then narrowed as he looked towards Yamato. He had already sent Jiraiya on a secret mission to gather information, and Kushina was busy with council meetings. It seemed they had to deal with this situation now.
"It seems that Team Seven has encountered unexpected enemies on a simple C-rank mission. The client lied about the bridge builder in the Wave Country, and they encountered Zabuza Momochi and Raiga, along with their subordinates. Kakashi, with the help of the Uchiha and my children, managed to fend them off, but Kakashi is wounded and they are requesting backup. Team 12, I'm sending you there. Unfortunately, Kushina-san can't accompany you as she's busy with important village matters, so you'll have to manage without her for now."
Naruto smirked, excited about the mission. It had been a while since he was out of the village and he looked forward to some fun. Yamato nodded as he received the mission details. Sakura whined about the physical exertion but was happy to go.
As they traveled from the Fire Nation to the Wave Country, the journey was relatively easy for the shinobi. Sakura, however, passed out midway, complaining about getting sweaty. Naruto wanted to get rid of her, but Yamato carried her through the mission. They finally arrived in the Wave Country, guided by Kakashi's dog, and located the house they were staying at.
Menma and Naruko were surprised to see the backup team. Anger and a hint of fear crept into their faces when they noticed their older brother, Naruto. Yamato quickly spoke up to prevent things from escalating. "We are here as backup. Kakashi-sensei is resting in the room," he said as he went to find the information Kakashi had about the enemy.
Meanwhile, none of them noticed a small mirror melting in the doorway—it was Haku. "Zabuza-sama, it seems you were right. Those were the children of the Hokage, and Kakashi has definitely ask for backup.".
Zabuza was in deep thought. Raiga got pretty injured in the battle, and it seemed they would have to ask for backup. Who knows how many other shinobi are on the way? It was a dangerous situation. Those kids had used the power of their Bijuu, and Zabuza wasn't going to take any chances.
He looked towards Haku. "Haku, send a message to him." Haku's eyes widened but nodded at the command of his master. After all, they were up against two Jinchuriki, and who knows what the other jonin were capable of. With Kakashi also resting, he wasn't going to take any chances.
Meanwhile, Naruto was meditating. The whole house was full of nonsense. First, that kid, Inari, came screaming something about there being no heroes. As if Naruto cared about being a hero. Then, the Uchiha was calling him names like loser. Sakura was screeching again, and his siblings were staring at him without saying anything, trying to creep him out. Kakashi lectured him about teamwork and respecting authority. Sai was keeping an eye on him. Needless to say, Naruto was at the center of all this annoyance and really needed to destroy something.
Naruto sighed and decided to leave the house. Yamato decided to follow him, along with the rest of the team. Sai looked towards Yamato and asked, "What are we doing?"
Yamato replied, "Naruto, it's time for training. I know it's late, but it's better that you start training as soon as possible. How many of you know about tree walking?"
Only Sakura didn't know. Yamato sighed but decided to teach her. "Why don't you all follow me? I'm sure there's a nearby lake where we can practice water walking."
They had been trying to master water walking for a few days, but their annoyance and frustration about losing their title and people mocking them, calling them weak, had hindered their progress. Some were even questioning if they were worthy of their training.
