17. Part One

The day ended soon after because it was the first day of the school year.

The grumpy teacher told them to be in the principal's office tomorrow, half an hour earlier.

Then the test results would be ready and had to be discussed either way. He added that they could bring their parents along if they expected a positive result. Looking into his eyes, he was already convinced of how this would end.

Paige nodded while Lance ignored him.

Before leaving class, Lance said to her,

"Go to a hairdresser; the villainess surely wouldn't run around with her hair self-cut."

'It really didn't look good', he thought while he made his way downstairs, leaving her standing there.

Natasha ran after him.

Paige fumbled with the uneven and thick ends of her ponytail while packing her school bag. It was true; she should go to one on her way home.

Her phone vibrated. They were the school bullies' friends. The original Paige, feeling superior to the kids in school and being feared but not enough to maintain her a few fake followers, had older friends outside.

Naturally, there was a reason why the character 'Paige' constantly came up with bad ideas; these friends were the first to leave when things became too spicy to handle, even though they were always offering suggestions, such as ways to get back at the female lead. Yet, when Paige turned their ideas into reality, they were indignant, claiming they were just joking.

Since transmigrating, these friends could be brushed off, but she had to play a scene with them soon.

She pocketed her phone and went to search for a shop to buy a new shirt and, after changing into it, to the dry cleaner for her stained blouse.

After she was done with that, she got her hair cut and went home; it was already early evening.

In her mind, she talked to the system.

[Lance already knows about Jace's rebirth and that I had no idea about it. Can I at least discuss this with him?]

[No.] It answered coldly.

[Can you at least give me some leeway? Come on, please.]

[No.]

She sighed.

[Firstly, I can just talk with him despite the punishment since you can't kill me. Secondly, the storyline is already messed up with Jace being reborn and the male lead knowing the plot. Thirdly, since he already knows and will help, why not let me discuss it with my teammate?]

[If you had read the story, you would know what the plot contains.]

[Wait, what?] She paused. But she had read the whole damn book in the system space, even though she remembered the story already—she wouldn't risk remembering the storyline incorrectly.

[Clarify that.]

[You only read the first part.]

"What the fuck?" Paige blurted out loud while standing still on the street. A few people looked at her, but she didn't care.

"Are you fucking serious?"

[Yes.]

Trying to calm down, she continued on her way home at a snail's pace.

[Then why didn't you inform me about there being a second part?]

[The system would have, but you said you were ready to go, so it let you transmigrate in the character.]

[Then give me the damn plot. Now.] She said, pursing her lips.

[The plotline can only be received in the system space.]

[Then bring me to that goddamn system space.]

[Then Paige Smith would die.]

Paige kicked the wall of a building, only to hurt her foot. Despite this, she kicked it a second time. Taking a deep breath, she thought, 'Fine, I don't care anymore either.'

When Lance left, the female lead followed, and behind her followed the petite girl with pigtails. Finding this kindergarten boring, he turned around and asked Natasha,

"What is it? Are we going in the same direction, or do you want to say something to me?"

Natasha looked like a deer caught in headlights. Her startled expression would evoke pity from anyone else; however, Lance didn't find this endearing but rather fake. It was as if she had found a romance book and every motion she made was copied from it.

Maybe he really had looked through too many novels in the last month. He ran a hand over his face.

"Hmm? What is it?"

"I... The class president told me not to talk to you because you have connections to drugs. But... I don't believe it!"
