39. Explanations

Paige nodded at him, her lips tilting up.

"No problem."

She gave him a few more minutes to sort out his thoughts.

Finally, he could concentrate again, and after going through the story outline one more time, he asked.

"What happened with Paige in Story 2 after being kicked from school?"

"Good question." Said person commented that it was surely better than the end of the original Paige in the first part, gang-raped and all.

[She was later raped and then killed by a serial killer.] The system answered promptly.

While Lance looked horrified at her, Paige asked languidly with sarcasm in her tone,

"Is there someone who got not raped or killed in this novel?"

The all too well-known boredom crept up and infested her mind. It was a feeling very close to being fed up with reality. An emptiness that knew how to lure Paige in, trying to damage her from the inside.

"Who was that serial killer?" Lance asked with clenched teeth. He hadn't killed anyone yet, but apparently, he could if he wanted to. The relief from not being a murderer was immediately forgotten.

[The three M murder.]

Paige and Lance looked at each other cluelessly.

She suddenly changed the topic.

"Who is the final boss you mentioned that Lance and Natasha have to fight?"

[The three M murder.]

"Well, we have a common enemy." Paige stated.

Lance found this whole ordeal not the least bit funny.

"And who is the three M murderer?"

[The M-City Matricide Murderer]

"What the fuck?" Lance demanded,

"And who the fuck is that?"

[That Information can only be received in the system space.]

Lance stood up

"Are you kidding me?" Looking rather aggressive.

"Okay. We asked about a storyline outline, and you provided it to us.

My next question is, what exactly was my mission? I should not let the book be overly sadistic. Okay, it isn't anymore, with Lance being safe and sound and not murdering anyone.

But you also want us to follow the storyline, which is the storyline of a sadistic novel?" She gave Lance a look that said, 'Calm down,' and he sat down again, still disgruntled.

[Paige Blunt's tasks:

-Impersonate the role of Paige Smith, which you have not fulfilled already and was canceled after speaking to the creator. Because of that, you were abandoned.

-Don't let the male lead blacken, meaning:

To not let the male lead commit murder, rape, drug abuse, kidnapping.

-Let the male and female lead marry

-Act out the most important story points, meaning, for example:

Meeting Meier and starting an enmity with him.

-Let the male and female lead defeat the three M murderer.]

Lance still tried to cope with himself being mentioned in a sentence together with capital offenses.

"What is a creator, by the way?" Lance asked.

[The creator of this storyline.]

"The author?" He followed up.

[No.]

"Then what?" Lance hissed, losing his patience.

[That Information will never be disclosed.]

So, this time, it was not even in the system space. That's good to know. The creator was apparently an existence that could not be touched or talked about.

"Haaaa..." he sighed in frustration.

Paige looked at him consolingly.

'That is the system for you.'

"How is having to meet Meier an important plot point when he dies in 1-2 years anyway?"

[That Information can only be received in the system space.]

"Is there a possibility to go through the plotline without Paige being raped or killed?"

[Calculating...]

Lance looked in disbelief at Paige and thundered, directed at the system, "This is the first time you calculated this possibility??"

Paige laughed lightly, self mockingly asking,

"Because of this, you chose me, right? To have an unimportant person sacrificed."

[Calculation paused.]

[The creator requires a life force strong enough to carry the world. On the other hand, no existence that influences their surroundings could be touched by the creator or system. It is rare to find someone with such a strong lifeforce while being the most useless to his surroundings.]

Paige nodded woodenly. That was no news for her; many told her how useless she was. She knew and hated herself for it. But what should she do? She found herself not less valueless than everyone else.

"Shut the fuck up, just cause she is a shut-in? Why not take someone who harms their surroundings instead of someone you deem useless?" He did not like how the system talked about Paige, and his heart clenched seeing her making this sad face.

[Criminals lose their live forces by extinguishing another. They can not carry the world. They can also not be touched because they are still influencing their surroundings, despite it being in a mostly negative way.] the system explained.

"Ha! So you first got someone innocent out of their home and let him carry a whole fucking world, then called him useless? But criminals can not be touched anyway because they harm people? Does that even make sense??" He laughed in anger.

[She is not innocent. Stasis is the worst sin a human being can commit.]

"How about you just go and fuck yourself?" Lance snapped. Sadly, he can't fight an invisible system, no matter how much he wishes to.

Pafelt felt somewhat better after being defended so much by him. She smiled at Lance beautifully, diffusing his anger a bit.

"Just continue to calculate, then give us a script, and we go through it to the best of our abilities." Paige gave in. She would try again after giving up, something she never did before.

Lance interrupted nonetheless. "Why should we even help you? Doesn't the world arrange the important plot points anyway?"

[Yes, it does. But without you two acting along, as the essential figures you are, what reason does this world have to exist? The creator only chose to play out the storyline because he liked it. If the creator isn't satisfied, you can just be obliterated.]

Lance looked alarmed at Paige, who looked back, somewhat disinterested, instantly making him furious. 'How does she not even care about being threatened with her life?!'

"Who do you mean with 'you'? Me and Lance?" Paige asked, already knowing that would be going too easy on them.

['You,' as in- you humans of this world.]
