Chapter 3

Lily couldn't understand what was written in the book but she felt drawn to all the different symbols as the wizard turned page after page.

"This one is for Aquilan, the god of water, father of fish" he said while pointing at one of the symbols, he then turned the page again "Aetheron" he said "god of air father of flying insects" he continued pointing at different symbols that seemed to get Lily's attention "Ignar, god of fire, father of reptiles", finally he reached a symbol that took the whole page, he looked at Lily "Terrak, god of earth, father of mammals". Lily stared at him "Also known as our father".

Lily had heard some of those names before but she didn't really remember any details. After hearing those words Lily looked at her belly again.

"Yes a symbol like that, all magic users manifested a symbol like that usually at a young age just like you, although not in the exact same location as you. Where the symbol manifests depends on the person" he looked down to the page again "most magic users manifested the symbol of Terrak, it tends to show on the right arm."

As the wizard explained he was interrupted by Jenny "I thought you were going to teach the basics, we need to be back before curfew you know".

"Ah yes, I apologize, I am very senile these days, a bit of … stimulation.. might help me keep focus" he said lowering his gaze while speaking to Jenny.

Jenny sighed and moved next to the wizard and the pink hue returned to Lily's face. Lily could see the wizard move one of his hands towards Jenny's behind but couldn't tell any more than that.

"Now little one did you notice something about the symbols I just showed you" asked the wizard.

Lily as if she was waiting to answer before he even asked replied with her usual low voice "the symbol on my belly... is not there."

"That's right, no one has ever manifested that symbol before" he said "but it does show up in other places" he then opened that book in a page towards the end.

Lily immediately noticed the drawing of a beautiful woman, with a familiar face.

"The Goddess" he said "mother of everything and first female," he paused for a second as if building tension "Submissia."

Jenny who was still beside the Wizard, whose hand had not moved from her behind, looked at Lily's eyes noticing her curiosity. "Have you heard of her before Lily?" she asked.

"It.. sounds familiar" she finally said. "But I don't know, sorry" she said while looking down.

"It's ok the orphanage doesn't bother to teach anything anymore" said the Wizard. "Anyways" said the wizard while gesturing towards the other page of the open book which showed a symbol.

"That's my symbol!" said Lily noticing immediately.

"Yes Lily, it's the symbol of Submissia the goddess, our mother" said Jenny as she gently pushed the wizard off her side.

Again Lily looked down but now her expression of deep thought continued for a while, she lifted her face again "but... why am I the only one?" she asked, her concern audible.

The wizard closed his eyes and played with his beard for a few seconds before he finally said "there is a prophecy, but I'm not sure it's time."

Jenny spoke over the wizard "Lily this means you will have magic abilities, you can be an adventurer" said Jenny evoking a tone of excitement.

Lily stare seemed skeptical "magic abilities?".

"That symbols shows your connection to one of the aspects of chaos" said the wizard "Chaos is the source of everything all the gods and the goddess came from him" the wizard gave Lily a second to process "that connection will manifest abilities, what abilities is impossible to tell, especially in your case".

Lily again seemed deep in thought, Jenny noticed this.

"I think this is enough for today, you have a lot to think about right Lily" said Jenny.

Lily nodded.

"And don't worry about walking back, the wizard can just teleport you back" said Jenny smiling at the wizard. He then sighed and whispered something to Jenny's ears. Jenny just smiled back at him. The wizard then told lily where to stand and he raised his hand, where the symbol of Luminor, the god of light, was glowing. The glow shone stronger for several seconds until in the blink of an eyer Lily was at the entrance of the orphanage, she looked around but couldn't see Jenny.

Back at the wizards house, the wizard took a spoonful of the potion in the cauldron and gulped it down, Jenny sitting on a chair with her legs crossed while she waited, the wizard then moved towards the only and small window of the room and closed the curtains. He thought he heard a noise from outside but ignored it.

On the other side of the window Jake was covering his mouth, his heart beating from fear of being caught. He then ran back to the orphanage.
