The Mysterious Analytic Eye

Chapter 5

Ling walked to Luo Yue. He thought she looked very pretty. Luo Yue couldn't move much and struggled to lift her sword.

Mark, who had just recovered a bit from the cold water, saw some people coming and got scared. 'They're too fast!' he thought. There were about five or six of them and they were all fighters!

"Don't worry, I'll treat you well," Ling said to Luo Yue. But then, someone behind them spoke in a cold voice.

Luo Yue was surprised to hear the voice. Why did he come out? He knows he can't fight them! She thought.

When they turned around, they saw Mark, who was wet. Mark looked at the people coming and talked to them. The people got scared and ran away when Mark spoke to them. After they left, Mark sat down and felt relieved.

"You acted pretty well!" Luo Yue said to him. She was curious how Mark knew the fighters' ranks.

After resting a bit, Mark said they should leave so they wouldn't come back. Luo Yue agreed, so Mark carried her and they went away.

As they left, one of the people who had left said something wasn't right. Hearing this, Ling got angry.

Mark fell asleep after running for a while.

When he woke up, he saw it was getting light outside. He found himself holding onto Luo Yue, so he quickly let go of her. Then they heard a noise.

Luo Yue got up and pointed her sword at Mark, thinking he might be in danger.

Time flew by, and over the two days, Mark followed Luo Yue's instructions and used her long sword to defeat evolved beasts. This woman was impressive. Despite her young age, she understood the habits and attack methods of different evolved beasts very well.

Mark lost count of how many beasts he had defeated.

Two days later, in the early morning, Mark reached level nine! He checked his attributes board in his head:

"Do you want these odd crystals?" Mark asked, holding a bag full of them.

Luo Yue shook her head. She was almost fully recovered now and seemed even more indifferent.

"Where are you going?" Mark asked as she walked away with her long sword.

"After the Lightning Leopard," Luo Yue replied.

"You're still going after that thing..." Mark sighed, feeling uneasy about it.

"I won't fail," Luo Yue said coldly, showing her determination.

"And I'll kill you next time I see you!" she added before walking off.

"What do you mean?" Mark was shocked by her words.

Luo Yue didn't respond, but after a moment of silence, a faint sound came from the distance: "Sacred region."

"Where's that?" Mark wondered, but Luo Yue had already disappeared.

Mark shook his head and put the bag of odd crystals around his waist before heading in the opposite direction. After fighting for a few days, he felt more determined and agile.

However, he remained cautious, knowing there could still be high-ranking evolved beasts around.

With his slightly rusty battle blade in hand, Mark ventured deeper into the forest. He thought he could climb back up the cliffs using the vines and return to where he was before.

As he cautiously made his way through the forest, he heard noises ahead. Mark frowned, unsure if it was an evolved beast or a human.

Approaching carefully, Mark suddenly dodged a strike as a cold light flashed past. It was Howard, one of the warriors from the other night.

Mark realized Howard was alone and felt relieved. As long as he wasn't a top-ranked warrior, Mark might have a chance!

But the fight was intense. Howard's sword was quick and ruthless, and Mark had to be careful to avoid getting hit.

After a fierce exchange, Mark managed to fracture Howard's hand with a kick. Surprised by Mark's strength, Howard became more cautious.

Despite Mark's efforts to dodge, Howard managed to land a blow on Mark's chest. But Mark fought back, swinging his battle blade at Howard with determination.

In this world, the most common weapons were blades and swords. Spears were rare.

"Clang!" When the man swung his battle blade, Mark blocked with his spear shaft, sending the blade flying.

His eyes gleamed as he thrust the spear forward, using his skill – Awe of the Phoenix! He felt drained but saw flames erupting from the spear tip.

"Bang!" The flaming bird struck the man, causing him immense pain.

The flames allowed Mark to thrust his spear into the man's chest, killing him.

"Kill!" Ling and the others were shocked by the bizarre skill and felt Mark had to be eliminated.

Mark faced them fearlessly, wielding his spear with incredible skill, evoking awe in his enemies.

As the flaming bird disappeared, Ling cursed their failure to catch Mark.

Meanwhile, Mark ran for his life, eventually finding refuge behind a tree at the base of a cliff.

Exhausted, he rested, feeling the effects of using Awe of the Phoenix.

Afternoon came, and Mark regained some energy, but his spear was damaged beyond repair.

Realizing it was time to return to town, Mark climbed back up the cliff, wary of falling.

Back at the city gate, Valor felt relieved to see the returning students, hoping none were lost.

However, Mark was missing, causing concern among the faculty.

Tien hadn't seen him either, remembering Mark's last direction into the dangerous forest.

Yuri dismissed Mark's absence as inconsequential, but others felt uneasy.

Just as they speculated about Mark's fate, he appeared in the distance, alive and well.

"Mark!" Tien cheered upon spotting him.

Approaching, Mark explained how he had mistakenly fled into the path of high-rank evolved beasts.

"You're lucky to be alive," Yuri sneered, noting Mark's intimidating presence.

Could Mark have grown stronger?

August, feeling uneasy, hung back while others approached.

"Are you okay?" Valor asked, concerned about Mark's appearance.

"I'm fine," Mark reassured him.

"Did you not kill any evolved beasts?" mocked Yuri's lackey, Qiwi, eyeing Mark's empty hands.

There was an unspoken competition during the combat test to hunt evolved beasts and gather odd crystals.

Opening his sack, Mark revealed an impressive collection of odd crystals.

"Sixteen rank one odd crystal," he announced, stunning everyone.

Mark's haul included two odd crystals, obtained from killing two evolved beasts.

"Impossible!" Yuri protested, feeling his ego wounded.

"Mark must have cheated!" accused Qiwi, but Mark silenced them.

Returning to the pub, the students learned they could sell their odd crystals or use them for cultivation.

Mark's rank of three odd crystals fetched an astonishing offer from the pub boss.

Accepting, Mark earned a significant sum.

Another group from Class one entered, boasting impressive combat prowess.

Yuri's resentment flared, but he remained silent in the face of a formidable opponent from Class one
