Lord of the Void

I stood at the locker and contemplated on opening the doors but decided against it. Fortunately whoever was hiding had realized that I wasn't a threat and stepped out.

It was a woman with thick glasses and curly red hair. She looked at me for a moment before speaking.

"Who are you?" She asked, fear still lingering in her voice.

"You can call me Blake, do you know where we are?"

"No but we need to hide, there's a masked killer running around hunting people down."

"I wouldn't worry so much about that, my fiancé is currently out there dealing with it."

"Dealing with it?"

"Yeah, don't worry. Now let's start with your name."

"I- uh… right. My name is Mikaela."

"Good, now that that's out of the way, do you know where we are?"

"No idea, I was scheduled to open a show at a local coffee shop and suddenly I woke up here."

"Interesting… anything worth pointing out?"

"What do you mean?"

"Anything you remember that led up to you waking up here?"

"Not that I- oh wait, a few weeks before the show I had these awful nightmares that seemed so real. I had a friend record me while I slept but…"

"But something happened and now you're here."

"Yeah, look. We really need to leave. The killer, nothing seems to affect him. A few others tried to ambush him with things we found but he just keeps on going."

"The others, where are they now?"

"I don't know, we got split up. I saw him grab Meg and I ran inside and hid. I should have helped, she probably dead now."

She looked downtrodden, from the state of her clothes she looked like she had been here for a few days.

Her skin was stained with what looked like grease and dirt, surprisingly she managed to hold on to her hat and a strange book she had hooked on her side. She noticed me looking at her book spoke up.

"I- I used to practice white magic… I know it sounds silly but I really think it worked. I was a barista at the coffee shop I was talking about and I used to bless the beans in the morning. People seemed to love the taste of the coffee the beans made so I kept at it. When I had those nightmares, it really threw me for a loop. I felt this darkness creeping in and well…"

In another life I would have scoffed, witchcraft and magic, something that used to sound alien to me was now a daily occurrence in my life.

I had no room to judge when I was a dimension hopping being that could erase mountains with a flick of my wrist.

It was starting to make sense though, a novice witch finding some sort of incantation they didn't understand somehow inadvertently calling me.

It was a textbook 'summoning gone wrong' situation. Still, I had to make sure my hunch was correct.

"No need to explain, I do have one question though…"

"What is it?"

"I was summoned here, by someone who invoked my name."

Mikaela paled at that, she took a step back and bumped into the locker. Her eyes frantically darted around the room searching for an escape.

"Look, I'm not going to hurt you. I just want to know if it was you that called me here."

"I- I'm, I didn't know… I'm sorry. I was desperate, I- I remember reading on a forum somewhere about a way to summon you. I didn't think it would actually work. Please, spare the others, you can take my soul, just let the others live."

"Mikaela, I'm not taking your soul. What do you mean a forum about how to summon me?"

"You're Belegûr, the Lord of the Void. I saw the sky outside and thought this was your domain, I thought I could bargain with you."

The casual mention of my true name caught me off guard, I looked at her for a moment deciding whether I should take the memory of my name from her with the Elder Wand.

She seemed truly desperate and from the sounds of it, some cocky bastard of a being was holding people hostage here with a killer hunting them down for its own entertainment.

I didn't know if it was my 'domain' over the Void or just the fact that I hated it when random entities fucked with peoples lives but I wanted to help.

"I will ignore the fact that you know my true name for now," Mikaela gulped and nodded. "I am going to help you out of here though. After which I may decide to take that information from you."

"I- I understand. True names are powerful, I shouldn't have meddled. I'm sorry…"

"Don't apologize, just stick close, we're going to find your friends."
