39. The Challenge Of The Samurai Boy

Swish!

The young man, who had been in a state of distress, suddenly fixed his eyes on the two of them. He drew a katana from his waist and slashed directly at Ash.

"Ah!!" Misty was startled by the sudden attack.

Seeing this, Ash instinctively reached out and grabbed the blade with his left hand, causing Misty to avert her eyes in fear.

"Small... Ash, are you okay?!"

Seeing Ash grab the blade with his hand, Misty hastily grabbed the corner of his shirt, her face full of worry and annoyance.

"What are you doing!!"

Misty was furious. This guy didn't thank them for saving him; he attacked them instead, causing her temper to flare up.

"To be able to block my attack without flinching, it seems he's not an ordinary person!" The young warrior seemed unfazed by his "revenge for kindness" act, looking proud as Ash held his knife.

"That was a sneak attack!" Ash said calmly, letting go of the blade.

Misty quickly grabbed Ash's hand to check, only to find it uninjured. Meanwhile, the samurai retracted his knife, revealing that the blade was bendable, indicating it was not real.

After letting go, the blade started to shake. It looked like it was plastic and not a real knife. Misty was relieved when she saw this, but she was still a little upset. Ash was right; it was a sneak attack.

"Ahem... that's not the point. The point is, are you trainers from Pallet Town?" the samurai coughed lightly and then asked.

"So what if we are?" Misty was still upset, and before Ash could speak, she responded in an unfriendly tone.

"If you are trainers from Pallet Town, then come and fight!" the samurai pointed at Ash with his fake knife.

"Fight? Why? Do all the trainers from Pallet Town have to fight you?"

"Because I have met three Pallet Town trainers before, and they were all unbelievably strong. After fighting them, I learned a lot from each battle, so I am determined to challenge all Pallet Town trainers!"

The samurai made his intentions clear.

"Uh... sounds like you lost all your battles with the other Pallet Town trainers and now you're determined to prove yourself!" Misty said sarcastically.

"That's not the point! The point is, are you trainers from Pallet Town?" The samurai boy blushed at Misty's words, trying to cover his embarrassment.

"I'm Ash from Pallet Town. Even though you sneak-attacked me, a trainer from Pallet Town isn't afraid of any challenge."

Ash lowered his head slightly, adjusting his hat, and accepted the challenge without hesitation.

"Very good, just as expected of a trainer from Pallet Town. Let's battle! A two-on-two match, how about it?" The samurai became excited.

"Can do!"

"Then here I go! Go, Pinsir!" The samurai threw a Poké Ball excitedly.

Snap!

A blue light flickered, and a brown Pokémon with a solid carapace appeared. It had a pair of huge horns on its head, resembling giant scissors.

Seeing this, Ash also took out a Poké Ball. "Go, Metapod!"

Instead of Pikachu or Pidgeotto, Ash chose his recently evolved Metapod.

Misty frowned slightly. Metapod couldn't move on its own, so trainers usually sent them out after they evolved and were capable of fighting.

She didn't expect Ash to send out Metapod. Why not use Pikachu or Pidgeotto with type advantages?

In the past, she would have voiced her opinion, but after seeing Ash defeat Pidgeotto with Caterpie, she held back her words and chose to trust him.

"Huh? It seems I praised you too much. You sent out a Metapod that can't move to face Pinsir? Isn't this a sitting target?" The samurai boy sneered.

"Hmph! There are ways to fight even if you can't move. How do you know if you haven't battled before?" Ash smiled faintly.

He knew how powerful Pinsir's large horns were, and Pinsir was considered a high-level Pokémon among Bug-types. But Ash had his own strategy.

"You asked for it. Pinsir, use Vice Grip!" The samurai, thinking Ash was too arrogant, decided to teach him a lesson and gave Pinsir the command.

Pinsir rushed forward immediately, the horns on his head flashing a silver light as his feet pounded the ground.

"Metapod, use Harden!"

Metapod didn't make a sound, but its eyes sharpened, and its body gleamed. The luster faded after a moment, and its green carapace seemed to be coated with a transparent glass cover.

"Continue Harden!" Ash commanded again. Metapod used Harden once more, the luster flickering as its defense was strengthened further.

Snap!

Pinsir reached Metapod, clamping it with the horns on its head.
