There were so many things happening yesterday that Ash forgot some important details for a while. When the tunnel was about to collapse, he accidentally glanced at the Moon Stone and picked it up.

In the end, it was up to Axew to decide. If it wanted to leave, it could do so now. If it wanted to go back to its home, they would accompany Seymour to meet the police.
Axew had been brought to Kanto by poachers, and the police would be responsible for returning it to the Unova Region.
After speaking, Ash took the lead, and the others followed. Axew hesitated for a moment but then decided to follow Ash and the group.
They walked along the river and soon arrived at their original location. Brock used Onix to help everyone up the slope, returning to the tunnel.
At this time, the police had not yet arrived. Seymour asked Brock for help, and they had Geodude and Onix close the gap leading outside, using Axew's previous attacks to block the fallen stones.

Seymour holds a high status in Pewter City's research community, having become a Professor at a young age. His research has greatly contributed to Pewter City, so they were very worried after receiving the news.
However, when they arrived, the tunnel had collapsed due to the battle, delaying their arrival.
"Professor Seymour, are you alright?" Officer Jenny asked, concerned about Seymour's well-being.
"Oh! I'm fine, don't worry. Thanks to these kids, the bad guys were driven away. By the way, what happened to those bad guys?"

She immediately recognized Brock. After all, he's the Gym Leader of Pewter City, so they had known each other for some time. However, she was a bit surprised to also recognize Ash.
