Chapter 33 : The Search for Treasure

Accompanied by the system's prompt, Chris sprang up from the wooden bed in a refreshed manner.

Opening the system and glancing at the Survival Points record, he was pleasantly surprised.

Unexpectedly, the system that had always been stingy had been rare and generous.

Just yesterday, he consumed 500 Survival Points to repair the generator, and his Survival Points dropped from 525 to 25.

He had thought that he would need to save up for a long time next before he could reach the 300 points required for the energy bike build.

But, now he had a full 240 Survival Points!

An increase of 215 points in a day's time!

Without any surprises, he would be able to reach 300 tomorrow to build the Energy Bike out!

With excitement in his heart, Chris climbed out of the shelter and stood outside the shelter's stone door.

Today, no digging trenches.

He had a new plan.

Standing on the hillside where the shelter was located, Chris held a technologically advanced compound bow in his left hand and wore a handmade jumper with a silver-white iron inner armour inside it.

Max sat crouched at his feet, looking formidable in his silver-white plate armour.

At this moment, his confidence was unprecedented.

Target, the treasure on the treasure map, depart!

Holding Max, Chris took out the treasure map from the warehouse and started moving forward according to the markings on the map.

From the treasure map, the distance between his shelter and the one marked on the treasure map wasn't too far.

So he quickened his pace, hoping to arrive as early as possible and then return to the refuge before dark.

As Chris walked, he took out the treasure map from the warehouse every now and then to check it.

Confirming if there was any difference between the surrounding terrain and the map on the treasure map, thus confirming if he was on the right path.

Max didn't care about this, seeing that there was no danger in the surroundings, it kept leaping and running around Chris, spreading its joy.

Chris' pace was so fast that they arrived at the marker in just two and a half hours.

Standing at the marked spot, he took a look around.

There were still plains all around, endless yellow fields, yellow weeds, and dying trees.

The scenery around him was everywhere, and there was nothing different.

The only unusual thing was that there was an ancient stone gate under Chris's feet.

The stone door was covered with a layer of yellow sand.

Chris sighed as he squatted down to study the stone door.

This relic was hidden really deep!

If he didn't hold the drawings in his hands, he would never have discovered the stone door buried under the yellow sand.

At a glance, the stone door had gone through a long period of time and was strewn with various scars.

There were engraved marks from the wind-blown sand, scratches from unknown animals, and even traces from the impact of water.

Although he didn't know how the marks from the impact of the water current came about, he confirmed one thing.

This relic was by no means simple!

Chris became even more vigilant in his heart and carefully placed his hand on the stone door handle.

Both arms violently exerted force to lift upwards, but the stone door did not move.

He couldn't help but grip it tighter and harder.

However, even though he mobilised his entire body's strength, the stone door was still tightly fastened to the ground and did not move at all.

Looking at his palm, which was already red from exerting too much force, Chris frowned.

It shouldn't be.

Although his own strength was not particularly strong, it should be more than enough to open a stone door.

How could this stone door not move at all?

Could it be that this stone door was opened downwards?

Chris held the doubt in his heart and pushed the stone door downwards.

However, the stone door still didn't move.

This stone door might be in disrepair and have problems.

Chris gradually had a guess in his heart and couldn't help but look towards the joints between the stone door and the door frame.

The joints, which had long been filled with yellow sand and soil, did not have a single gap.

Chris nodded indistinctly.

These yellow sand filled up the gap between the door frame and the stone door, the stone door had no space to move, naturally it was impossible to be lifted by himself.

Taking out the shovel from the warehouse, Chris tentatively inserted the shovel towards the gap between the stone door and the door frame.

Wanting to use this to clear out the yellow sand stuffed in the door frame.

But the gap in the stone door was straight and narrow, while the shovel was curved.

It simply couldn't be stuffed in.

One could only think of another way!

Retrieving the shovel into the storage, Chris sighed and opened the trade menu.

He was prepared to trade some fresh water and use it to wet the gap between the door frame and the stone door, washing away all the yellow sand as well as dirt in it.

But, after thinking for a while he gave up trading.

Not to mention whether others had fresh water to trade with him.

The only thing in his warehouse that he could take out to trade fresh water quickly was Spiritual Energy Water, and in order to control the price of Spiritual Energy Water, he needed to control the amount of Spiritual Energy Water he shipped.

Convince the other seekers that Spiritual Energy Water was very difficult to obtain.

Shaking his head, he took some Spiritual Energy Water from the warehouse, tilted the mouth of the bottle containing the Spiritual Energy Water, and poured it towards the doorway.

The yellow sand and dust instantly became wet when it came into contact with the Spiritual Energy Water and began to slowly penetrate downwards.

Sure enough!

Seeing the change in the dust and yellow sand, Chris was surprised in his heart while speeding up the movements in his hands.

It wasn't until he had spent a whole 1000ml of Spiritual Energy Water that he was able to clear all the dust between the door frame and the stone door.

Chris re-gripped the grip of the stone door and lifted upwards with force.

This time, without the hindrance of yellow sand and dust, the stone door creaked and was easily lifted up.

Max had been crouching at Chris's feet.

Seeing the stone door being opened, he also wagged his tail happily.

Chris stroked Max's head and didn't immediately enter the stone door, but squatted beside it to look inwards.

The interior of the ruins was dark, and nothing could be seen except where the sunlight shone.

After hesitating in his mind for a while, he took out a torch from the storehouse, lit it and threw it down.

The torch emitted an orange-red glow and quickly fell to the bottom of the ruins.

By calculating the time the torch fell, Chris found that the hole wasn't very deep, about two metres deep.

With the light of the torch, he simultaneously confirmed that there was no danger down there.

Still, Chris didn't enter right away, instead, he turned his gaze to Max who was next to him.

"I'll go down and explore, you stay here and watch the cave entrance."

"If there's danger approaching, you'll howl in the rhythm of one long and one short."

Chris stroked the fur on Max's back and said seriously.

Max understood his words and nodded humanely, whimpering twice to signify that he understood what Chris meant.

He gently stroked the top of Max's head once again, and then leapt into the middle of the stone door.

Entering the stone door, Chris picked up the torch from the ground and observed the surroundings with the light of the torch.

In front of him, there was a long and narrow corridor.

The surrounding walls were all made of stone, with many statements and paintings engraved on them.

Chris gradually had a slight guess in his heart.

This location was most likely the shelter built by the previous survivalist.

And that survivalist left this place for some unknown reason, leaving behind this piece of relic.

Through observing the ruins, Chris felt that it was very likely that this shelter was not built by a single person, but by numerous survivalists together.

The corridor he was currently in was very narrow and long, and on both sides were all beautifully carved murals.

Speaking of these incomparably exquisite stone paintings alone, without a long period of accumulation, there was absolutely no way to carve out such exquisite statues.

Chris looked while slowly walking forwards, and soon came to the end.

His original intention was to see if he could obtain any useful information by looking at the murals.

But, after looking all the way down, he didn't find any useful information.

Most of the murals were patterns of worshipping various gods.

At the end of the corridor was a closed, thick wooden door.

Chris pushed the door in front of him with force, and a somewhat rotten and mouldy smell hit him.

He stepped through the wooden door, and a huge underground space appeared in front of him, opening up.

He was currently at the top of the space, and needed to follow the stairs in order to walk down.

Chris didn't rush to walk down, instead, he carefully surveyed it.

In this space, there were all sorts of things placed all over the place, most likely the survivors in this relic had forgotten to take them with them when they left.

With so many items, something particularly useful was bound to exist!

Chris couldn't help but look happy, and from down the stairs he rummaged around to check it out.

The first target he chose was a desk closest to the entrance.

Most of the books on the desk were already decayed, and the handwriting was already blurred.

But, there were quite a few knick-knacks on the desk in addition to these books.

Chris approached and just gently flipped through the items on the desk before his face was delighted.

Two dry batteries, a lithium battery, and a long cut of wire, as well as a light bulb!

Chris couldn't help but get excited.

The torches used for lighting in the shelter not only produced smoke and crackling noise, but also an unpleasant odour.

If not for the lack of alternatives, he would have replaced the torches long ago.

This electric light had simply come just in time!

Receiving all the items in front of him into storage, Chris continued to explore.

The hall had a lot of space, but he rummaged with great excitement, and soon turned the hall upside down.

And the harvest that came out of the rummaging made him even more excited.

There were more dry batteries, lithium batteries, wires, and all sorts of gadgets, such as electric motors and so on.

There were also a variety of various products whose specific functions were unknown.

Chris was prepared to study these after returning to the refuge, so he received them all in the warehouse.

The hall had already been rummaged through by him, so Chris looked to the sides of the hall.

There were several huge wooden doors erected on both sides of the hall, four in total and eight in all.

Chris couldn't help but gulp.

Eight rooms, if the harvest in each room was like the one in the hall, then he would take off straight away!

With excitement, he arrived in front of one of the wooden doors and stretched out his hand.

The wooden door was heavy, and it took Chris both hands to slowly push it open.

After the door was pushed open, he didn't rush to enter.

Instead, he stood outside the door and brought the torch inside, observing the situation behind the wooden door.

The firelight illuminated the space behind the wooden door.

After Chris saw the situation in front of him, his pupils instantly shrunk slightly, and a look of horror appeared on his face!
