Under the moon a building burnt brightly, the crackling of fire was accompanied with the screams of the poor souls burning in it. A group of five men paced though the whole was as they sliced through the castle guards.
"We are getting close"
They climbed up the stairs and a giant door was waiting for them. The door with its gold accents and handle blocked their paths, but as soon as one of them touched the door handle.
"Damn it, it's hot" he cried out in agony.
Another man raised his arm and chanted a spell creating a quick burst of wind opening the door in an instant. The man in anger kicked the door opening it completely, the hinges barely held the doors from falling. The five men swiftly entered the room and immediately started their search. Under the bed, breaking open the cupboard the flames had engulfed most of the furniture, creating piles of ash.
A man below in the garden turned around, his eyes shined golden.
"In the forest" he told his partner guarding him. His partner simply nodded his added, all of their men were notified and started to move towards the forest.
The couple in their mid-30s ran through the forest. They could barely see through the forest, guided by the castle fire. Their breadths heavy, they continued limping carefully on the moist land. The woman holding a baggage looked at her husband, "How long?" The words could barely leave her mouth, but her spouse spoke nothing and kept on running straight ahead.
"LOOK AROUND!!" One of the soldiers shouted as they started searching the forest, holding torches, like giant fireflies in the dark forest, the castle fire started to calm down, artificially it seems. A new group of men in white armor ran around saving anyone they could carrying them to safety, while the group of men clad in black disappeared.
"General Malles" of the housekeeper looked at a figure looking sternly at the burning building.
"Yes" Malles responded while still looking at the castle.
"The king and queen have gone to the forest"
"What! Are you sure?" He now looked at the house keeper with worry and seriousness.
"Yes" I was the one who assisted them.
Malles immediately vanished towards the forest leaving the housekeeper who fell down in exhaustion.
The couple continued their run as they suddenly noticed a bleak light in front of them which started to get brighter as they got closer, it was not the light of the soldier, they increased their pace but the men clad in black noticed the couple and increased their own pace. The couple reached a small broken shack.
"Honey, is it ok?" she looked at her husband with worry eyes.
The king finally looked at his wife teary, "Yes" He knocked on the door, as an old man in his 50s greeted them. "What do you need?" he asked in a grumpy tone as if he just woke up from slumber.
"O' kind man please take this boy with you and run away" The wife came up the small stairs and handed him the baggage she was holding.
"Eh, but why? Who are you people?" the old man was lost.
"A group of men are pursuing us, please, they only want to see us dead, please keep my boy safe" The husband spoke.
"Ehh, but what do I get? "
"There a lot of gold in the baggage with my boy, please, take him" The mother cried.
"Fine, give him to me" The old men agreed.
As the mother gave away her child, she muttered "Nyer" in a whispering voice.
"Huh! what did you say?" the old man said as he put up his hands to receive the baby.
The mother got startled, "Oh, Nyer...Nyer, that's his name.
"Nyer, huh" The old man took the baggage with the baby, it was quite heavy meaning there was some jewelry for him. The father and the mother teared up, as he closed their eyes, the old man understood their pain and went inside, to finally break the link.
As the old man went inside closed the door, the mother and father started to conjure a spell, as a giant magic circle surrounded the perimeter of the small shack. Them with a white beam, the house disappeared. The couple them started to run back towards the men clad in black.
Malles struck one of the men, then another, he out maneuvered them even if the men in black out numbered him 1 to 20. His attacks were desperate he wanted to kill all of them as soon as possible, but the frustration was kicking in as the men in black evaded his attacks. A man in black suddenly appeared behind him and slightly tapped Malles' back, he lost his balance and fell down, another man in black kept him pinned down, as one of the grunts tied Malles up. But all of them noticed two individuals approaching them, finally in their field of vision around the thick the trees. The couple looked at the men in black and then to Malles.
"My lord!" Malles gathered every bit of strength within him, but he could even budge the man pinning him down.
"Made things easy for us, our lord and lady, its time to die, the kingdom isn't happy with your administration." The man who made Malles fall down spoke, he had a raspy voice.
The king and queen shining red against the burning castle took out a knife, each and swiftly slit their own throats, falling down as a pool of blood started to surround them, there was silence, neither Malles nor the men in black said anything, the bizarreness of the situation caught them off guard. The raspy voice finally broke the silence, "Retreat". In a quick second all of them vanished leaving Malles and the dead bodies of the king and queen alone, Malles finally got back his energy, slowly walked towards the bodies. But then a soldier noticed Malles and bodies, and called for his comrades.
"General Malles, what did you do? "One of the white armored soldiers said.
"I don't know, everything happened so quickly."
The old man went inside his hut and he sat down, a quick jolt of quake hit the hut. In rage he stormed outside, but as he opened the door, the trees had disappeared, under the moonlight the blades on grass shown. Scared he went back in and opened the baggage, the little baby was sound asleep, his hand clenched, in womb position, unaware of the happenings of the world. The old men gave a genuine smile seeing the innocence of the baby, something he had long lost. As he moved away the baby from the baggage, he noticed ruby necklace, he hit the jackpot, all the riches would be his. But one look at the baby was enough to calm down his greedy ambitions.
