Chapter 79: The Heartbroken Singer on the Beach

Seeing the excited and happy look on ruiky's face, Chen Jianhai smiled and said, "I happen to have the contact information for the wedding planner 'Ertian Ai Qing'. I'll send it to you later so you two can meet up. Take a few days off to prepare for your wedding. No need to come to work."

Just as ruiky was about to speak, a commotion arose in the hotel lobby.

"Someone is singing on the beach in front of the hotel," someone said. "It's really good!"

"And the singer is quite handsome!" another added.

Boss Chen instantly became unhappy. Singing on my golden beach? Did I agree to that?

Hotels as old as Lang Ai, especially ones next to a street full of bars, usually have beaches that are not very private. Many people who aren't hotel guests can also relax and have fun on the beach.

The hotel never restricts or stops these tourists. But having someone come to the beach to sing? That's a first!

Hearing this, Chen Jianhai immediately stormed off towards his beach.

As soon as he stepped out of the hotel's back door, he heard a melancholic and raspy voice singing.

"I braved the winter winds, got drenched in autumn rains, walked through summer sands, yet still lost you."

Chen Jianhai was taken aback. He had never heard this song before. This guy must be singing an original song!

Chen Jianhai, who enjoys singing along to tunes, had never heard this particular song. As he approached the beach, he saw the sunset casting a golden hue on the sand, with deep red clouds on the horizon, creating a grand illumination that shone on the solitary figure by the sea.

The gentle voice was like a melancholic wave from the deep sea, full of endless sorrow, pulling everyone into its embrace.

"Boss, this guy sings really well," ruiky couldn't help but comment.

"It is quite good," Chen Jianhai nodded, about to share more of his thoughts, but then turned to ruiky and said fiercely, "Who allowed you to come listen to the music? Have you finished your work? I already gave you a vacation, and you're still slacking off tonight... Get back to work!"

ruiky jumped in fright. The boss had been fine just moments ago, so why the sudden change?

Feeling a bit aggrieved, ruiky explained, "Boss, my last task today is to clean the beach. Should I chase him away?"

"You...!" Chen Jianhai was momentarily speechless.

After a while, Chen Jianhai said, "No rush, wait for my signal."

On the beach, many tourists had gathered around the singer, forming a small circle. Since many were not hotel guests and couldn't sit under the coconut umbrellas, they simply sat on the sand, listening intently.

The bustling noise from the nearby bar street contrasted sharply with the tranquil and melodious singing on the beach, drawing everyone into the song.

People sat quietly around the singer, not disturbing him or speaking. A few even sighed, seemingly reminded of their own memories by the song.

ruiky sighed softly, "What kind of life must one have gone through to write such lyrics..."

Chen Jianhai replied indifferently, "Probably got cheated on by his wife."

As soon as he said this, the singing abruptly stopped.

The singer slowly turned around, eyes red, glaring at Chen Jianhai. Others also cast angry glances.

Chen Jianhai felt a chill down his spine.

Oh no... Could I have been right?

The beach singer seemed to be deeply hurt by Chen Jianhai's words. With a trembling hand, he plucked the guitar strings, his voice carrying a tearful tone.

"The one who loves you the most is me, how could you bear to let me be sad. When I needed you the most, how could you leave without saying a word!!! I did so much for you! How could you bear to let me be sad!!!"

His voice was heart-wrenching and tear-inducing. Even Chen Jianhai, who was usually indifferent, found it hard to listen.

Just how much had this guy been hurt?

Worried, Chen Jianhai quickly sent a message for the lifeguard to keep watch, just in case the singer might do something drastic in the dark of night. His hotel could end up making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

He even came up with potential headlines for the tabloids.

"Shock! Southern Jiang's Broad Princess Wedding Night Tragedy, Heartbroken Man Drowns!"

"Was Wang Family's Marriage True Love or a Family Compromise? The Worst Fear Comes True."

"I'm Sorry! Wishing You Happiness, I'm Exhausted."

The singing continued until 10:30 PM. The guy sang straight through, without even stopping for water!

If his earlier songs were melancholic and soulful, his later ones were downright heart-wrenching.

People came and went, experiencing several waves of listeners.

Chen Jianhai, growing weary, finally spoke up, "Brother, take a break and have some coconut water."

He handed a coconut to the singer, who stared at Chen Jianhai with bloodshot eyes, looking somewhat eerie in the night.

"Drink it, it's not poisoned," Chen Jianhai urged, pushing the coconut closer. The singer hesitated for ten seconds, then put down his guitar and drank from the coconut.

"Are you a tourist?" Chen Jianhai asked.

The singer remained silent.

Chen Jianhai glanced at the large travel backpack next to the guitar case and asked, "Do you have a place to stay?"

Still no response, the singer just raised the coconut and drank.

"Have you eaten?" Chen Jianhai asked patiently again.

"Are you annoying? Who are you? Are you checking my household registration?" the singer snapped, throwing the coconut onto the sand, his raspy voice filled with anger.

"Do you want a job? I can provide food and accommodation. Would you be interested?" Chen Jianhai picked up the coconut and looked seriously at the singer.

ruiky was shocked by his boss's offer. Is this how hotels hire people now? You don't even know the guy's name, and you're offering him a job. What if he's a criminal?

The beach singer was equally stunned, looking confused.

Chen Jianhai continued, "I'm the owner of Lang Ai Hotel, Chen Jianhai. You sing well, and I'd like to hire you as our evening resident singer. Do you agree?"

Instantly, with the dual buffs of [Charisma] and [Charm] activated, Chen Jianhai's offer struck a chord with the singer.

A glimmer of hope appeared in the singer's eyes. "You want me to sing?"

"You sing beautifully," Chen Jianhai smiled, his voice filled with persuasion.

The singer swallowed, his throat moving slightly. "I agree."

Chen Jianhai nodded in satisfaction, "What's your name?"

"I'm An Xia."

"Alright, An Xia, follow me inside to sign the contract. From now on, you're part of the hotel staff," Chen Jianhai said, turning to walk back to the hotel.
