A ticket to escape from this wrenched town

After losing my pursuers, I sat down and watched the sun eventually set as I contemplated what had just happened.

"D&D"

If anybody is unfamiliar with D&D, it's an imaginative game that can be played anywhere. It's like playing pretend with rule sets based on logic to play... sometimes.

The player follows the narrated story that the DM creates, and the core of D&D is...

"Luck of the dice," I muttered softly.

Each action, each interaction, and each observation—everything is determined by luck.

Sighing at this sudden sad realization that every action I do will depend on luck upset me.

But who am I to complain to? God? Whoever sent me to this damn place, maybe. But my priority is survival, not challenging a higher being right now.

Diverting my attention back to the bag I had just stolen, I opened the pouch to see what I had collected.

[Rolling a 3D10... {3,5,9} you receive 3 Electrum, 5 silver, 9 copper]

{info: 3D10 means 3 dice that have 10 sides, from 1 to 10. Another example might be 2d20, which means 2 dice that have 20 sides, etc.}

Feeling the bag in my hand lighten and the size shrinks, I checked inside and saw exactly 3 Electrum coins, 5 silver coins, and 9 copper coins.

Accepting this amount of money, I climbed back down and returned to that bastard's shack.

Knowing the treatment slum dwellers, I didn't even try to find an inn, as I could imagine their reply if I asked for a room to stay.

But before returning to the shack, I tried to find a place to keep this pouch safe.

Finding a rather desolate alleyway, I searched around the stone wall to see if any bricks were loose enough to be detached.

*Click* One brick slid out with ease, and after retrieving 1 silver coin, I hid the pouch in the crack and covered it with the loose brick.

Checking to make sure nobody was looking, I quickly scurried away from my spot and returned to the bastard's shack.

Opening the door, a strong stench of alcohol and cigarettes assaulted me, but I endured and saw the bastard drunkenly sleeping on the table with dozens of empty bottles on it.

Looking around, I saw another door facing the sleeping bastard. Opening it, I saw a decrepit room that barely resembled a bedroom. The only way I knew this was my room was by the dirty bunny sitting on the bed.

Feeling weary, I instantly fell asleep after hiding the silver coin.

"Wake up brat!" A strong pull woke me up instantly, the bastard held me in one of my hands.

"Because of you, my wife left me with this cursed daughter of mine that does nothing but sleep!" as he was about to raise his hand to punch me he hesitated before dropping me down.

"That pretty face of you's is the only way you'ved survived begging, it would be ashamed to ruin it now. Go beg on the streets before I kick you out myself!"

I ran quickly to the door and exited the shack.

"Rude awakening, what a great way to start the morning huh" I adjusted my bed hair and decided to do something with this hygiene.

Though I could have solved this yesterday, I was desperate to look for another place besides that bastard's shack but it was a futile attempt.

Climbing up to one of the rooftops, I saw a river close by that was empty.

Coming to the river, I looked around and saw nobody was around and I sighed in relief before taking my clothes off and taking a bath.

Taking a second to look at myself in the water's reflection I was surprised to see a deep red eye staring back.

Beautiful is the word to describe it, a small bridged nose with long eyelashes, and small and rosy lips.

"*Whistle* what beautiful little lady" After admiring it a little longer I realized this little girl could become a real beauty if it wasn't for the dirt covering her white hair and face with a malnourished body leaving her body looking like a skeleton.

After finishing cleaning my body I finally tackled one question I had after realizing I lived with D&D rules.

"Status!" After a long silence.

*Cricket noises...*

"Ahem- Character sheet?"

Responding right away a Character sheet appeared before me

"That health could use some help" Looking at my whole character sheet, I was surprised at how high it was for a level 1.

In a good mood, I decided to also wash my clothing as well, and after letting them dry I checked every equipment and went on my way back exploring the town.

Walking along the narrow alleyway a distant howl similar to a train sounded.

Curious I climb up to get a vantage point.

[Rolling Acrobatics... nat 20+5]

By some mysterious force, I felt a surge of strength in my arms and effortlessly scaled to the rooftop instantly from the first floor.

Before landing on the roof I felt a strong forced flip of my body, doing a front flip accompanied by a Tony Hawk game SFX from the sky.

Upon landing, I discovered glasses on my face and a cigar in my hand.

"Time to kick gum and chew ass" Realizing what I said without my consent, I slammed the lit cigar on the ground in anger.

"Oi, no smoking on this young lady!" I messaged my head by the roll's stupidity and went to look towards the source of the sound that brought my curiosity in the first place.

A train station connected to the rich district came alive, and many people came to the train station to see or board the incoming train, and before long a modern-looking bullet train came.

Children from the slums also looked from below looking in awe.

Scaling down to one of the excited-looking children I asked

"Hey, do you know what that is?" The kid diverted his attention to me and said with excitement.

"That's a train, it said to be able to carry people and bring them to another land, they said it was Utopia to where they are headed"

"Hmm, I see any way for us to board that rain"

"Noo.. they said only rich people can pay to ride it, and it rarely comes here, from what I remember it come once every 2 months"

"Gotcha, here as a reward, have these cool-looking glasses" I hand over the glasses that were sitting on top of my head.

"Waa! Really?! Thanks, big sis" Patting his head and saying goodbye I realized what I had to do to leave this town now.

Get a train ticket.
