Liz didn't stop all day, just working. She didn't even stop to have lunch; she ate a snack right there at the company. When night came, she came home, took a shower, put on her pajamas, grabbed a glass of wine, and put on a movie to watch. "The Lion King." She was thinking about Henry when the phone rang. It was Henry making a video call.
"Good evening, my love. I just got into the room. I miss you already. I was dying to see you. What are you up to?"
Liz replied, "Good evening, my love, it's great to see you too. I miss you so much. Look at what I'm doing, listen to the music and you'll guess. I'm watching my favorite movie, the one we saw together on your birthday. But today it made me cry. Is Penne with you? She wanted to, but she already had plans with Nick, so I told her I'd be fine here. Now you're keeping me company, she said smiling. Yes, but my phone is almost out of battery. But I needed to see you for a bit, to make sure everything was okay. I couldn't stop thinking about you the whole trip. And your assistant?"
"Liz, let's not talk about that. Just trust me and my feelings for you."
"I'm sorry, Henry, you can rest from your trip, we'll talk again tomorrow. Have beautiful dreams, my love," Henry said, blowing her a kiss.
Liz replied, "Good night. You too, Henry. I love you. We'll be together soon. I'll be here waiting for you."
They hung up at the same time. Liz fell asleep and woke up startled with Penne by her side. She asked what happened, and Penne said she woke up because of Liz's crying and came to see what was wrong. "I had a horrible dream about Henry and Zoe together, it was so painful. Oh friend, I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm sorry for waking you up."
"It was about time for me to get up anyway. Don't worry. Let's make breakfast together and then head to the office."
And so they did, they went on with another day of work. Liz worked hard, and days passed by.
The first week went by quickly. Liz and Henry talked every day.
It was Sunday, and Liz went to have lunch with Henry's parents. She stayed into the afternoon and then returned home, saying she was going to the movies to distract herself a bit. She called Henry, who didn't answer, so she left a message saying where she would be in case he called and she didn't pick up. Her phone was on silent.
The movie ended early, so she decided to go to the bar where friends gathered to chat. They were all there, including Piter, who went straight to her when he saw her. Molly was at their table. Liz teased him about leaving his girlfriend alone to greet a friend. He told her they were just good friends. "I don't think she sees it that way."
"What's the miracle? Out alone?" Piter asked, smiling.
Liz replied that she went to the movies and came to chat with friends, knowing they would all be there. He pulled out a chair for her to sit down and asked for a drink for her. She said she only wanted water.
At that moment, a message arrived on Piter's phone from Zoe, with a photo of her and Henry. The message said: "Having dinner with him now." Piter didn't miss the opportunity, showing the message to Liz and saying ironically, "Good thing you went out. Your boyfriend also went out for dinner. They look very well-dressed for a simple dinner."
Liz looked at the photo, embarrassed by Piter's comment, and said she was leaving. He asked her to stay a bit longer, but she said she couldn't. She said goodbye to everyone at the table and left.
She tried calling Henry but couldn't reach him. She sent another message asking him to call her. When she got home, Penne was there with Nick. Liz told them what happened, and they told her not to rush, to wait until she could talk to him. They were sure Zoe was up to something.
