Chapter:-121 Bet(1)

All over the country, once we have the results, we will appoint the managers based on

the situation. As soon as she finished speaking, Leo said in a strange tone, I agree with

Ms. Strauss' proposal wholeheartedly, but this investigation should go from the very top

to the very bottom. Even in this meeting room, some people's abilities don't match their

positions at all.

That's right, another director sneered and said, Mr. Sanderburg, you must know by now

that you're on the news, you've become a laughing stock, an example of how not to treat

the college entrance exams. If the company allows you to be the vice CEO, the whole

world will laugh at you and therefore at us. Everyone burst into laughter when they

heard this.

Olivia frowned and said, the company's hiring policy has always been about ability and

academic qualifications. Mr. Sanderburg's exam results might not be ideal, but during his

appointment, he's already made millions of dollars in profit for the company. That should

be enough to prove his excellence.

Leo sneered when he heard that. Sure, he made use of a high-society party to hype up

one of our websites, but once that's old news, Mastodon will return to its original form.

That was luck, not talent.

Plus, Mr. Sanderburg hasn't spent a single day in the office since becoming vice CEO. He

has no professional integrity. Olivia's face fell when she heard that.

She said in a cold voice, are you questioning my and my grandfather's judgment, Mr.

Tassimo? Leo scoffed and said, I'm just giving a suggestion, mistress. He looked at the

other shareholders before saying, mistress, I'm a straightforward man. Don't mind me.

Even if your family owns 51% of the company's shares, you still need to listen to us,

other shareholders. Look at all the people here. Who supports Mr. Sanderburg as vice

CEO? The other shareholders began murmuring objections.

Out of everyone at the meeting, only Keith was on Olivia's side. Olivia's cold eyes swept

across the entire room and she said, I'm the CEO. Who I appoint as vice CEO isn't up to

you.

I know that you're not convinced with my family and me, but so what? Olive Industries

was founded by my father. If you don't like it, you can sell your shares and leave. I can

tell you now that I'll buy as much as I want.

So if you want your share of the dividends, then I suggest you keep your mouth shut.

The shareholders fell silent for a moment. Keith rubbed his chin.

He now had a better understanding of the true leaders of Olive Industries. From now on,

he would use Olive Industries as the center point and conquer all areas. The scale of the

group was unprecedentedly large and these shareholders were more than a little

troublesome.

He couldn't let these people split the company for nothing, right? Suddenly, his heart

moved and he smiled and said, listen, I know you guys don't like me. The position of vice

CEO is in my hands and you think that hinders you from making money. But this is the

bottom line.

As long as I'm here, even if it's only for a day, I won't let you guys make money through

fraudulent means. He stood up with his hands behind his back and paced around the

conference table slowly. He said lightly, since we're not in agreement, how about this? I'll

bet my three percent share on my college entrance exam results.

The shareholders looked at him in astonishment, but Keith continued circling the table.

There's still more than half an hour before the results are released. If I don't make it into

the top three in the country, then I'll give my shares to you.

But if I am in the top three in the country, you have to give me three percent of your

shares. How about it? When he said this, everyone at the table exploded. Top three in

the country? You must be dreaming.

Bottom tree is more like it. Leo sneered and said, you think you'll make it in the top

three in the whole country with your performance? If you manage that, I'll live stream

myself eating shit. Another director also laughed and said, Mr. Sanderberg, this list is

going to be released soon.

Why are you bothering with this farce? Your current three percent share is enough to

keep you comfortable for the rest of your life. Why get involved in this mess? You should

go home and stay there. Keith's eyes swept across the group of people, and he said with

a faint smile, speaking of which, each and every one of you is amazing.

You're all so certain that I'm going to flunk the exams, and yet you don't dare to take a

gamble. Don't you want three percent more shares? His words were tempting, and the

shareholders looked at each other with hesitation in their eyes. The third major

shareholder, Harold Loxley, wanted to stand up and say something.

But when he saw Leo's expression, he was shocked. The man shook his head slightly.

There was a serious expression on his face, indicating that he shouldn't act rashly.

Having been friends for decades, Harold naturally understood what this meant. Leo's

expression was seen by Keith, too. A strange look flashed across his eyes as if he'd thought of something, and the corner of his mouth curled into a mocking smile.

Humans were greedy. How many people could resist temptation in the face of such huge

benefits? The three major shareholders didn't make any moves, but the others couldn't

sit still. Anton Patterson suddenly stood up and sneered.

Young man, don't be so pretentious. The price of posturing is often to lose everything. I'll

bet one percent with you.

Who here is willing to match that? With someone taking the lead, a few other

shareholders stood up and shouted, I bid .5 percent. I bid one percent. I'll bid 1.5

percent.

Keith laughed when he saw this. All right. Mr. Patterson, you and your friends are

certainly bold, he said loudly.

Where's Mrs. Sampson? The staff from the general administration office and various

other departments had been waiting outside the conference room. Yvette heard Keith

call her name and immediately pushed the door open and entered. Mr. Sandberg, I'm

here.

Keith waved his hand and motioned for her to come to his side. He then whispered in her

ear. Yvette listened and her beautiful eyes widened.

She couldn't help but be shocked. This was a billion dollar bet. And from all the evidence,

Keith was certain to lose.

She was really a little scared. And she hurriedly looked at Olivia as if asking for her

opinion. Even Olivia was a little nervous at the moment.

She asked in a low voice, Keith, this is a matter of great importance. Do you want to take

a moment to think about it? Keith smiled and said, if we give them an inch, they'll take a

mile. Don't worry.

Just trust me. From the perspective of a CEO, Olivia didn't agree with such reckless

behavior. There's no chance of winning this gamble.

But as a wife, when she looked at Keith's determined eyes, she felt inexplicably at ease.

Seeing Olivia nod, Yvette took in a deep breath. She sighed to herself and nodded.

Just a moment, Mr. Sanderburn. I'll go and prepare the contracts right away. Keith smiled

faintly and turned on the huge television in the meeting room.

The college entrance exam results were being released and some of the local platforms

were broadcasting it live. Troy Edmonds from the Eastern College Network was on the

screen. He was the reporter who had written a story about Keith sleeping through his exams, and it had earned him plenty of attention.

The broadcast was live from Harvard Square. Three giant screens were counting down,

waiting for the results to arrive. Troy held the microphone and said without stopping,

Ladies and gentlemen, the results of this year's college entrance exams will be

announced in 10 minutes.

All the biggest companies and schools are paying attention to the top scoring students

this year, but we believe that the audiences at home are mostly concerned about just

one person. Immediately after, the broadcast cut to the scene of Keith being interviewed

that day. Everyone in the square burst into laughter.

The interview video had already been edited by all kinds of meme lords, and it had

become one of the internet's most popular jokes. Keith was one of the year's most

famous online celebrities. Now, the atmosphere had become heated.

Everyone was waiting to see how many points this pretentious Keith guy could score. In

the meeting room, Olivia gently rubbed the space between her eyebrows. She felt a

headache coming on, and her eyelids were twitching.

The person on the television was her husband. It made her feel a little ashamed. The

shareholders looked at Keith calmly.

Harold Locksley laughed and said, Mr. Sandberg, why are you doing this? Isn't it better to

keep the billion dollars for yourself to live off? Why are you pretending? When the score

comes out, I'll buy a case of champagne to cheer you up, so you can have as much fun

as we are. Everyone burst into laughter. The men who had bet their shares with Keith

were even more delighted.

One of them shouted, Where's Miss Sampson? Is the contract ready? Yvette was nothing

if not efficient, and she was done very quickly. She handed the contract to Keith and said

softly, If you don't sign the contract, it won't be effective. Are you sure you don't want to

think about this again? Before she could finish, one of the men who'd bet his shares

snatched the contract from her.

He skimmed through it and signed his name. Keith said with a faint smile, Anton

Patterson, are you in such a hurry to hand over your money? Anton Patterson handed

the contract to another man beside him and said with a sneer, Why are you acting when

you're about to be shown up in front of everyone? Seeing that the others had signed the

contract, Anton Patterson slammed it in front of Keith with a bang. He said coldly, A man

must be responsible for what he says.

Mr. Sanderburg, you're not going to back out now, are you? Keith smiled faintly. If I sign

it, this contract will take effect immediately. You guys bet all of your assets on me.
