I was rendered speechless by Matteo's call. The air in my home seemed to solidify, and all sounds were swallowed by this sudden, devastating news.

"Ethan, no way." I finally found my voice again.

"Why?"

"The surgery is usually performed in the donor's country, considering the condition of the donor's heart."

"I know that."

"You don't! Our original plan was already bold, and that was based on the assumption that there would be no accidents with the donor. Now that the donor is in danger, with life hanging by a thread, what if they die during transport? What if there are other unforeseen changes?"
