Chapter 24: The Divorce Party

Did you believe in love at first sight?

This question was meaningless, a distracted hypothesis in casual conversation, where the person asking the question tried to capture you with a tender gaze. Bingo!

This was the beginning of a flirtation, which I would usually call, hitting on someone.

Nevertheless, it was not that these men who approached me were doing it on purpose. I just happened to think of my divorce application. The man whose name was next to mine also used this sentence to pry open my heart.

"No." My voice was as if from somewhere separated from the night, vague and ambiguous. "I don't believe in it."

"What's wrong with you?" Lily waved a bottle of wine at me from behind the bar, while I leaned my elbow on the shiny counter.

The bar Lily chose was neither spacious nor bright. But today was my divorce party. I couldn't be picky about this either.
