Chapter 28: last day as a bartender
Jin stood at the entrance of his villa, watching as the transport company loaded the newly made uniforms from VL into their truck. The high-quality fabrics and sleek designs were impressive, and he knew his employees at the Star Palace would look exceptional in them. After ensuring everything was in order, he called the transport company, giving them the address of the Star Palace.
"Make sure these arrive by noon," Jin instructed the driver. "I want everything to be perfect."
The driver nodded, assuring Jin that the uniforms would be delivered on time. Satisfied, Jin headed back inside to prepare for his final shift as a bartender. The system had informed him that this would be his last quest in this role, and he felt a mix of relief and nostalgia.
Arriving at the bar, Jin was greeted by his coworkers, who still seemed puzzled by his presence among them.
"Why is a billionaire working as a bartender?" one of them whispered, but Jin pretended not to hear. He had grown accustomed to the whispers and curious glances.
As the day went on, Jin focused on his work, serving drinks and chatting with customers. Near the end of his shift, Peter, the bar's owner, approached him.
"Jin, you've been a great help here," Peter said, a hint of sadness in his voice. "I still can't believe this is your last day."
Jin smiled warmly. "I've enjoyed my time here, Peter. I'm grateful that you took me in."
Peter nodded, clearly touched. "We'll miss you, Jin."
"Before I go, I want to give you something," Jin said, pulling out his phone. "Can you give me your bank details?"
Peter hesitated. "Jin, you don't need to do that. You've already done more than enough."
Jin insisted, his tone firm but kind. "Please, Peter. It's a small token of my gratitude."
Reluctantly, Peter provided his bank details. Jin quickly transferred £1.5 million to Peter's account. Moments later, Peter's phone buzzed, and he stared at the screen in disbelief.
"This… this can't be real," Peter stammered, his eyes wide with astonishment.
"It's real, Peter," Jin said, clapping him on the shoulder. "Thank you for everything."
As Jin left the bar for the last time, he received a system notification: "Quest completed. Reward: Major share in an antiques business."
Jin's eyes widened in surprise. A major share in a well-known antiques business was an unexpected but exciting reward. The system also notified him of a bonus reward of 4 points. As he got into his Bugatti, Jin couldn't help but smile at his growing fortune.
Driving through the city's bustling traffic, Jin received a call from the antiques business, Apex Antiques, asking him to meet with the CEO to finalize details. He agreed and drove to the location, parking his Bugatti discreetly.
Walking into the Star Palace, Jin was pleased to see his employees in their new uniforms. The attire was impeccable, and everyone looked professional and polished. He spotted Oliver, the manager, in a well-fitted suit.
"Excellent work, everyone," Jin said, his approval evident. "Now, back to work."
Jin then headed to Apex Antiques. The building was elegant and filled with various valuable artifacts. He was directed to the main office, where the CEO greeted him warmly.
"Mr. Smith, it's an honor to meet you," the CEO said, shaking Jin's hand. "We're excited to have you as a major shareholder."
Jin nodded, glancing around the room. His eyes fell on several intriguing antiques, and he made a mental note to acquire some for his villa.
As he turned to his left, he noticed an old man examining a display case. The man's features were familiar, but Jin couldn't immediately place him. The old man turned around, and recognition dawned on Jin's face.
"What a small world," Jin thought, smiling in delight.
The old man smiled back, and Jin knew this encounter was more than mere coincidence.
