Chapter 117: Madchen Amick

Arthur had some opinions about Mario Kassar, the chairman of Carolco, because the high salaries for stars like Stallone and Schwarzenegger were mostly issued by this company.

Michael Douglas's $14 million paycheck for starring in Basic Instinct not only shocked industry insiders but even stumped Carolco's higher-up, Peter Hoffman.

"The filming for Hook wrapped up, didn't it?" Arthur chatted with Steven Spielberg on a sofa in the banquet hall.

Spielberg nodded, "Thanks for the help last time. The Jewish organizations didn't want me to set up scenes on the actual grounds of Auschwitz. You were right. I shouldn't disturb those who have already passed away, so I'll build the scenes near Auschwitz, still in Krakow, Poland!" Spielberg added.

Arthur nodded, "Don't worry, I won't interfere with your filming. The script modifications and casting are all up to you. You're aware of my recent issues with Mel Gibson. Winona Ryder is also Jewish, and I want her involved as well. In the script, there's a Jewish architecture student who respects knowledge and gets killed by the Nazis. Let her guest-star in that role; it's just one scene!"

"No problem," Spielberg agreed. "As for Mel Gibson, he will get the punishment he deserves."

"I've already punished him," Arthur laughed. He didn't like to delay his revenge.

Just like they say, delayed justice isn't justice.

"Anyway, thanks a lot," Spielberg stood up and patted Arthur's shoulder. "Some from the Jewish organizations wanted me to convey their gratitude. Your efforts will certainly be rewarded. If Galaxy ever has any funding gaps, some Hollywood investment banks and funds are willing to finance you."

"I understand."

Watching Spielberg walk away, Arthur couldn't help but think sarcastically, Does Galaxy need to specially seek funding for movies now?

Most of those Wall Street investment banks are controlled by Jews, with interest rates higher than international capital. Galaxy now has investors coming to them voluntarily.

Chief Financial Officer Susan had already received new investment approvals from Japanese banks, along with European capital. Especially after German reunification, they increased incentives for cultural investment and tax rebates. German banks, insurance companies, and private equity funds are all eyeing Hollywood.

"Expressing gratitude without any concrete benefits, still wanting a piece of my movie profits," Arthur shook his head. "Do these Jews expect me to be thankful while making money for them?"

Originally, Hook had a budget of $48 million, but Spielberg overspent, bringing the total investment to $70 million.

Moreover, Spielberg and the creative team would take 40% of the film's profits. Only Sony would agree to such terms. Hook was a production of TriStar Pictures, a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment!

"Mr. Smith, may I invite you for a dance?" A young, beautiful, and sexy lady approached Arthur just as he put down his wine glass.

Arthur looked up to see a beautiful woman with enchanting blue eyes and thick, golden hair. Her striking facial features and captivating charm made her the type that instantly wins hearts.

With a stunning figure, she wore a white strapless evening gown that perfectly showcased her curvaceous silhouette, voluptuous upper body, slender waist, and long legs.

Arthur stood up and extended his hand, "What's your name?"

The lady, excitedly, took Arthur's hand and led him to the dance floor, "I am Madchen Amick, an actress, and I'm 21 years old. I starred in the TV series Twin Peaks and am preparing to shoot Columbia's adaptation of Stephen King's horror novel, Sleepwalkers!"

Arthur, with one hand on Madchen Amick's waist, thought for a moment, "Is it the thriller series about the lumber and tourist town of Twin Peaks in northern America directed by David Lynch? Aired on ABC last year?"

David Lynch was indeed remarkable. The films The Elephant Man and Blue Velvet in the '80s had high artistic quality, and last year's Wild at Heart won the Palme d'Or at Cannes.

In the TV series Twin Peaks, he used a dark, surreal narrative style that made a strong impact on the now formulaic American TV industry with its soap operas, becoming a milestone in American TV history.

Madchen Amick nodded, "The second season is about to air!"

"It's well regarded and meaningful but doesn't have high ratings, though it did win several Emmy Awards," Arthur said, shaking his head. "I estimate ABC won't renew it for the third season this year!"

Arthur was familiar with it. Twin Peaks was canceled after two seasons, followed by the movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, also directed by David Lynch, serving as a prequel to the TV series.

"Really?" Madchen Amick asked, despite being a supporting actress, Twin Peaks was her most influential role.

Arthur nodded, looking into Madchen Amick's eyes, "I have a keen eye."

Madchen Amick smiled, "Of course, Mr. Smith, your film company just won the Oscar for Best Picture!"

"Call me Arthur," Arthur said, touching Madchen Amick's face, "Hollywood sure has a lot of beautiful women."

It's normal for someone like Madchen Amick, with little fame, to star in B-list or C-list productions that use horror and sex appeal as their selling points.

Madchen Amick looked at Arthur, "I know a great bar nearby with excellent cocktails. Would you like to try it?"

"I also know some good nightclubs near Madison Square Park in Midtown Manhattan," Arthur explained.

"Can you take me to experience it?" she asked.

"Of course!"

Madison Square Park is a city park between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue, stretching from East 23rd to 26th Street with New York's famous 23rd Street Station at its southwest corner.

Madison Square Garden is a multi-purpose indoor arena across from Pennsylvania Station, between Seventh and Eighth Avenues, spanning West 31st to 33rd Streets and it's the home court of the New York Knicks.

At night, in the suite of the five-star Addison Hotel on the southeast corner of Madison Square Park, Arthur brought Madchen Amick back from the bar.

"Arthur," Madchen Amick proactively hugged him and started kissing!

Arthur responded to the passionate kiss, feeling the heat of the beauty in his arms. He easily lifted the less-than-170CM Madchen Amick and carried her to the bedroom.

After pressing the young woman onto the bed, Arthur tore off the dress of the woman beneath him and caressed the softness, "Madchen, you are really beautiful!"

Madchen Amick licked her lips and proactively took off Arthur's coat and shirt, flipping him over and pressing on top of him, "Arthur, are you ready for this passionate night?"

Arthur smiled, leaned back against the headboard, and lifted Madchen Amick's chin with a finger, "How did you get into the party at the Carlyle Hotel tonight?"

Tonight, the Carlyle Hotel hosted a high-level business party, and with Madchen Amick's fame, she would not have had an invitation!

Madchen Amick awkwardly leaned into Arthur's arms and kissed his neck, "Because I was just filming Columbia's work Sleepwalkers, my manager specifically bought me an invitation hoping I can meet some important people; even if I can't meet someone like you, I expect to meet some directors and producers. Show my face in front of them, perhaps leave an impression, and maybe they'll remember me for a role in the future!"

"That's true," Arthur rubbed Madchen Amick's back a few times, "Hollywood has a lot of competition, huh?"

"Very big, we need to seize every possible opportunity to showcase ourselves," Madchen Amick said, kissing Arthur's chest while unfastening his pants.

Arthur closed his eyes, enjoying Madchen Amick's kisses, and asked, "How do you know I would have a role for you?"

Madchen Amick paused and then whispered, "Naomi Watts, the heroine of Scream, was also a newcomer, and she's a foreigner too. She got a lead role from your work, and your previous script for American Pie was also very successful. You're very friendly to newcomers. Besides, spending the night with Arthur Smith isn't a loss!"

Madchen Amick leaned in and kissed Arthur again, "Young and handsome, you are always more attractive than others."

Arthur opened his eyes, "Aren't you afraid I won't acknowledge this afterward? This sort of thing is too common in Hollywood!"

"I know, actually. I hope to get a role from you to stand out, hoping that my efforts will be rewarded," Madchen Amick said, kissing Arthur's abs and touching his lower half. "But these things are not decided by people like us, I'm gambling. Even if you don't contact me later, I wouldn't dare say anything bad about you outside. Maybe the newly emerged genius filmmaker Arthur Smith would be different!"

Before long, Arthur deeply felt Madchen Amick's sincerity. Leaning against the headboard, Arthur involuntarily placed his hand on her hair.

"Don't worry, there will be more works from Galaxy in the future. If there's a suitable role for you, I'll keep you in mind."

Arthur wasn't the kind to break promises, and an actress like Madchen Amick wouldn't need a significant role to be appeased.

Everything was entirely up to Arthur's mood!

"Hmm, hmm..." Soon, Arthur received an even more sincere return from Madchen Amick...

The next morning, Madchen Amick woke up in bed to find Arthur was not there, causing her to panic a bit!

"Is it really like this?" Madchen Amick shook her head helplessly and, after putting on a robe, walked out of the bedroom to the living room.

"Arthur!" Madchen Amick was pleasantly surprised to see Arthur sitting on the sofa by the window, admiring the view of Madison Square Park below.

She joyfully walked over to Arthur, who looked at the sexy Madchen Amick, "What, you were afraid I had already left?"

Madchen Amick smiled, and Arthur pulled Madchen Amick onto his lap, kissing her lips.

After a startling surprise, Madchen Amick warmly responded to the kiss, wrapping her arms around Arthur's neck!

After the kiss ended, Arthur reached into Madchen Amick's robe and smiled, "You're so beautiful; how could I bear to leave you like this?"

"Yes, I was somewhat scared not to see you when I woke up," Madchen Amick tightly snuggled up to Arthur, ignoring his mischievous hands on her chest and blowing her fragrance into his ear.

Feeling the beauty in his arms, Arthur thought for a moment and said, "First, finish filming Sleepwalkers and see how it goes. For now, stay and be my woman. There's a $100,000 check on the table; take it and use it. I'll be in New York for the next few days, so stay at the hotel and keep me company!"

Madchen Amick leaned into Arthur's arms, "Do you want me to be your woman?"

"Yes, it will have its perks. If you want to leave later, you can. I don't like betrayal, understand?"

Madchen Amick nodded, "I don't have a boyfriend now!"

She clearly understood Arthur's point. For her, being Arthur's lover was quite good.

With Arthur's current capabilities, he could definitely arrange some roles for her. After all, Madchen Amick wasn't very famous yet!

Arthur smiled, "That's great. Also, avoid taking overly seductive roles in the future unless the script is good. There's no need to take roles that use the body as a gimmick."

"Okay," Hearing this, Madchen Amick was even happier. It indicated that Arthur would arrange things for her in the future.

"Arthur, how did it feel last night?" Madchen Amick seductively asked.

"It felt fantastic," Arthur said, giving Madchen Amick a peck on the lips.

"So, can you reminisce?" Madchen Amick whispered in Arthur's ear, "I remember you said my performance was excellent. How excellent was it?"

Arthur cupped Madchen Amick's face, "How about letting me feel it again?"

"Darling, I'd be delighted!" Madchen Amick said, getting down from his lap and kneeling on the carpet in front of him...

"Whew," Arthur gripped the sofa armrest. The scenery of Madison Square Park outside the window seemed even more beautiful!
