Chapter 106: Perspectives on Black Superman

Banner's psyche had once merged with the Hulk, forming a singular entity. Though this process was interrupted by Black Superman, its effects proved irreversible.

Since awakening in the hospital, Banner sensed profound changes within the Hulk. With time on his hands during recovery, he delved into meditation, seeking to reconnect.

To his dismay, Hulk had matured significantly. Once an innocent child-like persona, Hulk now exhibited the impulsive and irritable traits of an adolescent. Stronger yet harder to control, Hulk's newfound independence vexed Banner.

Most surprising was Hulk's insistence on finding a She-Hulk. Banner pondered the implications—where would he find one? And how would Betty react?

Despite these challenges, the fusion's aftermath wasn't entirely negative. Increased power was a definite boon. When Banner and Hulk synced, their combined combat prowess soared, offering a strategic advantage.

Moreover, Hulk's strength positively impacted Banner. While physically human, Banner noticed accelerated healing akin to a residual health recovery buff, markedly faster than before. Within days, he progressed from bedridden to wheelchair-bound.

Taking advantage of his recovery, Banner pursued Betty's suggestion to gather opinions on Black Superman from those he had aided.

Upon arrival at Stark Tower with Betty, Banner met Connors and unexpectedly, Felicia.

"Banner, I didn't expect to see you so soon. The prognosis was months in bed," Connors remarked as they convened in his office.

Surprised by Felicia's presence in professional attire rather than her usual combat gear, Banner inquired, "Felicia, what brings you here?"

Felicia hesitated briefly, her concern palpable.

Ignoring the tension, Connors interjected, "Remember our plan, Banner? Felicia agreed to be our spokesperson."

He glanced at Felicia, expecting an explanation for her change of heart.

"It's... nothing," Felicia murmured, evading further inquiry.

After the incident with Black Superman, Felicia felt he had distanced himself, believing her unworthy. Despite this, she honored their agreement, regarding herself as little more than a compliant mascot.

Connors and Banner, sensing Felicia's discomfort, refrained from prying further, recognizing her sensitive state.

Connors redirected the conversation, eager to hear Banner's thoughts on Black Superman.

"I'm not sure what to make of Black Superman," Banner confessed bluntly.

Connors, suddenly intrigued, prodded for details. "Oh? What has he done?"

Banner recounted recent events—intense training sessions, kidnapping, and near-death experiences, particularly Betty's ordeal.

"He's too indifferent, almost cruel," Banner concluded, troubled by Black Superman's recklessness.

Connors, rather than empathetic, seemed intrigued by Banner's account, finding perverse satisfaction in others' suffering.

"That's the cost of involvement, Banner. Everyone here has paid it," Connors remarked, much to Banner's confusion.

Banner frowned. Wasn't sympathy the norm in such conversations? Connors' unusual demeanor puzzled him.

Nonetheless, Connors continued, "I understand your dilemma. Black Superman is unique—he observes choices, intervenes in crime, yet remains aloof. His motivations are... peculiar."

Banner nodded. "Yes, precisely."

"However," Connors added thoughtfully, "this detachment can be perceived as a form of restraint. He's powerful but chooses not to dictate outcomes."

Banner shivered inwardly. Connors' perception of Black Superman as gentle bewildered him. Was Connors losing his mind?

Betty and Felicia, silent listeners, added to the discussion.

Seeing the conversation reach an impasse, Betty turned to Felicia. "You've interacted with Black Superman. What's your take on him?"

The question piqued everyone's interest, awaiting Felicia's candid response.

"He's vile! Cold-hearted, sadistic—a creature without conscience!" Felicia burst out vehemently.

Her revelation surprised the group. Betty pressed for details, curious about Felicia's harsh assessment.

"He said if I couldn't hide, I'd die!" Felicia recounted, detailing brutal training sessions and other perceived cruelties.

Betty probed further, "So, you hate him?"

Felicia hesitated, pondering her feelings. "Well, it's not that simple..."
