Haunting Parasitic Worms (Part 2)

It wasn't because of anything else but the fact that he could already see, not far ahead, a large group of no less than twenty 'Haunting Parasitic Worms' heading straight towards them.

Each 'Haunting Parasitic Worm' had a palm-sized body with black markings resembling eerie faces on their abdomens, which was terrifying to behold.

However, their most terrifying aspect wasn't their appearance; it was the highly corrosive slime that was covering their entire bodies.

A mere touch would strip the skin off on your hand, and they could even spray highly concentrated acid from their tails, making them extremely challenging to deal with.

It could be said that from the moment when Park Seung-Yong saw such a large number of these creatures charging toward him, he felt his scalp tingle.

Nevertheless, Park Seung-Yong, a sentinel hunter that was specialized in dealing with dungeon gate creatures, didn't evade them.

Instead, in the next instant, he decisively scooped up the crying child behind him, turned around, and shouted as he ran:

"Jin Su, quickly inform the Sentinel Patrol Team in the city! They have specialized 'Pest Control Cards' to handle these 'Haunting Parasitic Worms!!'"

In fact, even before Park Seung-Yong reminded him, Kim Jin-Su had already alerted the patrol team as soon as he sensed something was amiss and provided them with the precise location.

However, the situation escalated too quickly, and the patrol team was racing over but might not make it in time.

Park Seung-Yong had to prioritize escaping with the child to buy some time.

Despite Park Seung-Yong's swift running speed and agile evasion tactics, human speed couldn't match the mobility of dungeon gate creatures.

In just a short time, the creatures drew nearer and nearer, and it was almost impossible to dodge them.

Gritting his teeth, Park Seung-Yong reached out his hand and aimed to activate the combat card that was inserted in the card slot.

However, at the moment he was activating the combat card, Park Seung-Yong sensed something amiss.

He realized what he had forgotten and his face turned pale.

In his mind, he muttered, 'This is bad.'

He had forgotten that the first card inserted into the card slot wasn't a combat card but the one-star space storage card he had just retrieved from the storage center.

Due to the sudden accident right after collecting it, Park Seung-Yong subconsciously inserted that one-star space storage card into the card slot in his right hand.

So, at this very moment, what was activated by Park Seung-Yong wasn't a combat card but a space storage card!

It was over, truly over.

The creatures were too close, and it was too late to switch the star cards now.

Even though Park Seung-Yong had spotted the patrol team rushing from behind the 'Haunting Parasitic Worms,' even if they activated their specialized 'Pest Control Cards' now, there wouldn't be enough time.

He would be corroded by the first few 'Haunting Parasitic Worms' before they could intervene.

His only option was to shield the crying child behind him, buying time for the 'Pest Control Card' to be activated.

Feeling a tinge of despair, Park Seung-Yong couldn't help but close his eyes, unwilling to face the last moment of his death.

However, in the next moment, Park Seung-Yong felt no pain from the strong acid corrosion, nor did he hear people's screams.

Instead, he heard exclamations of surprise and astonishment.

"'Pest Control Card' activated... Wait, what's that? What are those transparent grids appearing in midair?! All those 'Haunting Parasitic Worms' are suddenly trapped by those transparent grids! Incredible! What kind of combat card is this?!!"
