The Heir to Merlin

James' sleep was interrupted suddenly as fell into a vision dropping into the board room of the Court of Owls. He saw Angus appear a few seconds later. Nick stood in the center of a group of all males with the Vampire Spike in his grasp of his hand. A second later the vampire was set on fire and burned away to ashes instantly. The court of Owl members were all in attendance in the room.

Angus looked at Nick. "What did you get out of him?"

Nick looked at the ashes on the floor at his feet scowling at them. He waved a hand toward Axe without answering at first. "Give him the confession. He was talkative quickly enough but I doubt the word of a hundred year old monster had any information better then having nothing else to going for the last six months." He said.

Axe passed over a notebook to Angus. "Make a copy of it and then get it back to us. We'll need it for the investigation we have to do afterwards. How's he doing?"

Angus shook his head. "It's his first kill."

"His first and last kill." Nick said.

Angus nodded taking the notebook and stared around the people attendance. "You saved my son. All of you. No matter what differences we had in the past I don't care about any of that now. Thank you. You earned my loyalty again tonight forever."

"Angus. Can I speak frankly." A member of the Owls spoke stepping forward out of the group. He stood nose to nose with Angus.

Angus looked at him. "Speak your mind Wells. You always do. You ain't going to hurt my feelings none."

"You screwed up!" Wells said quietly.

Angus nodded. "Go on!"

Wells sighed. "I saw a youth fight a hundred year old wanted murder just to bide time for us to come save his family. I read his thoughts. The only thing he cared about was thinking we would come save his family after his death. Angus. We have a shaded history and we've gone head to head but honestly. I never hated you. I'm telling you though we need him more then we need you. The amount of spells, constructs, wide spectrum of magic he's made here in our country in that mini sky realm above your ranch has advanced our position in the magical over a century. Just being in that realm he created we were energized by it because of our connections to you. There has never been a time like this sense the days of Marlin walked the face of the damned world. You were told my the wizards of the far east to guard the future of our people."

Angus nodded. "I know that. He's amazing person."

Wells shook his head. "No you don't. We almost lost two thousandth years of magic advancement. We almost lost the future to a bastard that wanted to burn our asses and while laughing in the damned shadows. You have to take this war seriously."

Nick looked at Angus. "Why the hell didn't you expect them to use a sleeping spell eventually? Why didn't prepare for it?"

Angus shook his head. "I did. I drank the potion and prepared my body. The asshole must have used a combination spell mixed with the vampires powers but I failed. I should have expected but I couldn't."

Nick stared at him. "I told you expect anything and everything. I told you to keep him out of the fight as much as possible. He's got decades if not a century before he'll reach his true power. You should have asked his help in doing so. Angus, I told you everything you've seen him do is only a fraction to what his real power will be."

"I know that. I just don't understand it myself. How was James able to resist the spell?" Angus asked.

"Holy shit. Not this shit." Axe said in frustration.

"What?" Angus said.

"Nick." Axe said turning to their leader. "You have to spell it out for him."

Nick stared at Angus. "Angus. Listen to me carefully. He chose the staff, he's a shape shifter with the form of a raven. He wields western wizard magic, magi teleportation at will, calls on the magic of wusxia and the mists and generates constructs at will. There has only been one man in the history of our people to wield all known magic. The man of the mist and now his heir James Potter. Do you not understand what place he is creating in Hawks Landing? It is the same place Marlin created with the help of the kings that sat in unity around the round table. When the land of the mist was still of access to our people. We had a name for it."

Angus sighed. "Camelot." He whispered. The other grunted or nodded their heads in agreement.

"We have entered the time of kings." Nick said sharply. "Every member here is a king of his own right and we are each having our kingdoms threatened by a foreign enemy that is challenging our territories here. Our common enemy is challenging our authorities and the magical wizardry world at large. You are the King of-"

Angus shook his head. "Hold up! I ain't no-"

"Be quiet and listen to me." Nick said calmly.

Angus closed his mouth. He stared at Nick and sighed.

"We are entering a new era for our people. But that time has not yet been birthed into being. In the event of James death we lose everything and will have to wait for another thousandth years to advance our people forward. That bastard is trying to kill our future. He wants turn your son to him or kill him. He will stop at nothing to turn James and all of our children against us. The stakes are high against us now."

"What? What are you talking about?" Angus said.

"This isn't just happening to your family. He's attacked and tried to turn all our children against us. My own brother tried to turn my own son on me. I've had to put my woman and children into hiding now sense this war started. This what is at stake Angus. You have to commit to us fully so we can close ranks tighter around each other so that he doesn't turn our own sons against us while that bastard laughs from the shadows." Nick said staring at Angus stressing his words intently.

Angus stared at him. "James ain't breaking for that bastard. I won't allow it. I'll burn that bastard first and every other asshole he sends to me and mean. I'll give that same protection to you and yours. That's my oath. Where do we go from here?"

"We're going to train James. But you have to spend sometime as well training our boys as well." Axe said.

Angus nodded. "Okay. We'll set it up. We'll all take turns training our people up for what's coming but that won't be enough."

They all nodded. Nick stared down at the ashes of the Vampire. "We have to find this bastard. We have to figure out a way to draw him out of hiding. All this hide seek crap getting on my nerves. Anyone that is siding with that bastard is a siding with a man that is threatening our families and interests. This has gone on far enough."

"You'll have to be the one to do it." Angus said and the group went motionless.

Nick looked up frowning. "What?"

Angus stared at him. "You'll have to be the one to do it. None of us here will be able to do it. Think about it. Over the last a couple of months. He's tried to divide us. Tried to turn us against each other and then come after our families, our sons. You're the only that's been able to keep us together during this and see what is coming."

Nick said nothing. He sighed. "I don't know if I'll be able to terminate this bastard alone."

"I disagree. They attacked us to draw you to put you in a weak position to submit or be emotional when you saw James dead. You saw what James was before any of us. My son admires you greatly and thinks highly of your opinion. This bastard isn't looking for me as a challenge. When the time comes and we reveal him be ready because your the one to end this shit. He knows it. You've kept it together out of all us. You understand how important it is for us to get rid of this asshole. You have to be the one." Angus said.

"I think Angus is right." An owl said in gruff voice.

"Your the one that figured it out, Nick." Axe said. "A divided alliance makes us easy pickings."

"Damn it." Nick glared shaking his head. "We have to figure out a way to draw him out. He's enlisting vampires, dementors, were-wolves and whoever the hell else against us. I'm not going to let him win." Nick said in cold voice.

Angus snorted shaking his head. "Oh. Don't worry about that. I'm going to wreak this asshole's world up bro so bad that he's going to pray for me to stop but I ain't going to. I'm going to drag him out. All this giggling in the shadows behind our backs is over and you can believe that shit."

Nick started to say something but the others started laughing and nodding in agreement. He looked toward Axe. The other folded his arms across his chest.

Nick looked at Angus and nodded. "Yeah. Yeah. We've been on the defensive to long. This bastard needs to learn the price for coming for our children. We are the hunters of the night. It's time we put the fear of God into this bastard finally."
