Chapter 34: Successfully Clearing the Level!

Alex Parker clicked to start the game and placed an Ice Shroom in the second row at the beginning.

In just two seconds, accompanied by some eerie sound effects, a terrifying wave of zombies surged forward!

It indeed was a sea of zombies, with so many that it was impossible to count them. Among the layers upon layers of zombies, it was hard to distinguish the different types. You could barely see the gigantic red-eyed zombies marching forward amidst the crowd!

Among the giant zombies, Dancing Zombies, Pole-Vaulting Zombies, and Football Zombies charged forward in groups. The Pole-Vaulting Zombies, in particular, resembled knights in a charging formation, making one want to shout in astonishment!

The red-eyed giant zombies threw smaller zombies over the plants in the back row, instantly dropping seven or eight tiny zombies near the Gloom-shrooms and Ice Melons. And it didn't stop there; countless tiny zombies kept flying over like exploding beans, wildly gnawing at the Ice Melons.

The Gloom-shrooms began frantically spraying their juices, and the Ice Melons started continuously throwing melons at the horde of zombies.

Alex remained calm. He continuously clicked on the corn catapults and various plant bombs, turning swathes of zombies into blackened char. He occasionally planted some very cheap puff shrooms, and sun shrooms to delay the zombies' progress slightly.

Under the relentless bombardment of various bombs, the zombies fell in droves. Jessica Thompson and her friends couldn't even determine what the zombies looked like before they turned into piles of charred remains and scattered gold and silver coins.

Moreover, Alex's timing with the corn catapults was impeccable. It was as if he could predict where the zombies would appear. The catapults always showed up just where they were needed most.

Paul Wilder watched in awe, Lily Emerson covered her mouth in shock, and even Jessica widened her eyes.

"Is this really how it's done?!"

"This puzzle game seems harder than some regular strategy games!"

Under Alex's relentless bombing, the zombies seemed incapable of resistance, dying in droves.

"I never realized corn catapults were this powerful!"

"I knew they were strong, but how does the boss protect so many of them?"

"Alex's setup seems very strategic, perfectly countering the zombies' characteristics!"

The spectators were getting anxious.

The game continued, with the zombie horde relentlessly attacking the plants. But under constant deceleration, their speed slowed to a crawl, and they quickly perished under Alex's rhythmical bombardment.

Until a massive wave of zombies approached, Alex hadn't lost a single plant!

"Here they come! A huge wave of zombies! It looks like the boss can handle it!"

"Wow, that's a lot!"

With the system's warning, a large number of zombies surged forward, small zombies flying in groups and giant zombies pushing through heavy fire.

Alex remained calm, maintaining the same rhythm with corn catapults and bombs. His precise actions were dazzling!

Paul felt overwhelmed, trying to follow Alex's mouse movements but unable to keep up with everything on the screen.

Everyone watched intently, knowing that Alex's strategy was not just about the setup but also required specific techniques.

After nearly a minute of intense battle, the last red-eyed zombie fell. Alex's plants were almost entirely intact, all bombs had cooled down, and even the sun level was barely depleted.

"Wow, he did it!"

"Level 2012, really cleared! Incredible!"

Everyone was astonished. Was it really possible to reach level 2000?

It seemed Alex wasn't even struggling and might have continued if he wanted.

"Boss, do it again!"

"Yeah, explain the techniques!"

"How do you place the corn catapults? Which spots do you target?"

"When is the best time to use the Doom Shroom and Ice Shroom?"

Everyone surrounded Alex, asking for detailed techniques.

Alex smiled slightly and closed his laptop.

"I said I'd demonstrate once. How much you grasp depends on your understanding."

Alex maintained a serene expression, like a sage.

Paul protested, "Boss, you can't just tease us like this!"

Lily added, "Boss, one more time!"

Jessica coldly threatened, "Explain clearly, or I'll flood the app store with bad reviews for 'Plants vs. Zombies'!"

The others echoed, "Yeah, bad reviews!"

Each tried their own methods to persuade Alex, but he remained unmoved, acting as if he was immune to their pleas.

Understanding that Endless Mode was meant to be played for years, Alex wanted them to explore and find their own enjoyment. Revealing all the secrets now would cut short that process, diminishing their fun.

Seeing Alex's firm stance, several students quietly slipped back to their seats to try the setup themselves.

Soon, everyone followed, eager to test the strategy while their memories were still fresh.

Jessica gave Alex a sideways glance before leaving, "Hmph, stingy boss."

Alex's lips twitched slightly, but he held back, knowing it was all for the game and the players.

Quickly, Jessica and her friends immersed themselves in Endless Mode, trying to replicate Alex's setup.

The setup wasn't complex to remember, and Jessica and Paul quickly got the hang of it, confirming with each other until they got it right.

Setting up the formation required several levels of preparation, planting all the necessary plants in the early stages and switching to bombs in the later stages.

This wasn't difficult for Jessica and her friends, and soon, their setups looked quite decent.

In the previous world, "Plants vs. Zombies" had been played extensively, with countless strategies developed. Alex chose a relatively standard 3C eight-corn setup with four sunflowers, a balanced formation capable of reaching over 4000 levels.

Generally, the more corn catapults, the greater the power. But they were also very fragile, and losing one could create a gap in defence, leading to a vicious cycle and eventual collapse.
