Chapter 1 – Beginning of Apocalypse

"Phew, finally finished." Vale leaned back in his chair and stretched his arms wide.

He had just finished his first novel titled "The Sword Demon's Reincarnation".

It was a work he had been toiling over for years. He had used his limited time and effort to the best of his ability, and had finally produced a product that he could be proud of.

A smile formed on Vale's face as he thought back to his journey of creation. He had poured his heart and soul into every word and sentence, trying to make the story as engaging and immersive as possible. The readers also liked his novel and supported him a lot.

The Sword Demon's Reincarnation was a story about a man who had been reincarnated into a world of swords and magic. The man had been a powerful demon in his previous life, but had been slain by a hero and sealed away. After being reincarnated, he became a human and entered an academy.

Through sheer luck, the hero from his previous life was reborn as well. This made things interesting for the hero, who decided to challenge the demon again.

The novel was a mix of action and adventure, with plenty of twists and turns to keep the readers hooked.

And, just as other webnovel these days, it was a harem story. The protagonist, who started off as a weak and timid boy, changed after he regained his memories as the Sword Demon.

A lot of people enjoyed the protagonist's growth and his journey to become the strongest in the world.

"Looks like it's time for me to start writing the next book. What should I write? Maybe an apocalypse book or a monster in a modern world?"

Vale shook his head.

"No, no...I think I'll write a dungeon gate or apocalypse story. That's popular and could be fun. Hmmm, the plot should revolve around a protagonist who wakes up one day with the ability to create dungeons. He would have to explore and conquer those dungeons to gain more power."

He sat in silence for a few minutes, thinking about the story that was brewing in his mind. Then, he began to write.

In writing a novel, the first five chapters were the hardest. He had to think how to get the readers' attention while maintaining mystery and suspense. However, once he got into the groove, the words flowed easily.

As he wrote, Vale felt a sense of exhilaration and fulfillment that he hadn't felt in a long time. However, that exhilaration didn't last long.

The ground suddenly shook violently, throwing Vale off his chair and onto the floor. A loud crash echoed through the air, causing the walls to shake. Unfortunately, his head hit the floor hard. His consciousness became blurry, but he could feel that the earth was still shaking.

"I... need to run..."

Earthquake was no joke. If he stayed inside his house, he could be buried by a ruble.

Still, he never expected this. Not the earthquake or the voice inside his head that came following suit.

[Earth has been invaded by the Apocalypse. Welcome to Earth's new reality!]

The voice in his head seemed to be coming from everywhere and nowhere at the same time. It was loud and clear, as if someone was speaking right next to him.

Within his hazy consciousness, the voice continued.

[Initiating awakening...]

Vale heard a crackling sound, as if something was breaking. Then, he felt a surge of energy coursing through his body. He tried to open his eyes, but the world around him had turned black.

Nevertheless, the voice continued.

[Finding passion. Prioritizing...]

Another loud crackle, and Vale felt his mind become clearer. He could see something shining in front of him. It was a floating screen, like the ones you would see in games or anime. However, nothing was written in it.

[Awakening completed. Congratulations! You have received your system!]

This time, a loud boom echoed through the air. It was as if a bomb had exploded nearby. Vale slowly regained his strength and pushed himself up. He could hear screams and shouts from outside.

"What the hell is going on?" He muttered, trying to get up. At that moment, he felt his balance was off. His arms and legs looked different.

Before he could react, a notification popped up in front of his eyes.

"Huh?" Vale blinked. The words on the screen were not making any sense. However, there was one thing he was sure of.

"Is this a dream?"

He touched his body to make sure he was awake. A white hair fell onto his palm, startling him.

"Wahh!!"

Vale screamed and jumped back. He jumped with too much strength that he crashed against the wall, cracking it. However, he felt no pain at all, just a tickle.

"What...what was that?!" He cried out, his body trembling with fear. "Why can't I recognize my own voice?"

A notification popped up in front of him again, this time with more details.

With a snap, he looked at the mirror in his room and saw his reflection. It was his face, but it was somehow different. It was more angular and had a sharpness to it that he had never seen before.

Vale gulped.

"I-I can't believe it... I... have become the protagonist of my book."
