Read Memory
Just in case, everyone gave the two trolls the drug "Greenhild's Sleeping Pill" and then let Amora read their memories.
This sleeping pill is the most effective one recorded in the Greenhild Pharmacopoeia, enough to put two trolls to sleep for an entire day.
Amora sat on the ground, placing her hands on the troll's forehead, and closed her eyes for a long time.
As soon as she opened her eyes, Fairwind couldn't help but ask, "How is it?"
Amora said, "There is no direct clue, but from the memory of this troll, the entire town can be accessed freely except for the castle in the center. I think our target should be inside the castle."
"What about the situation inside the castle?"
Amora shook her head. "No, he doesn't seem to have been to the castle, or he did, but the relevant memory was sealed or even erased."
Forseti said, "Try another one."
Amora continued to read the memory of another troll. After a while, she opened her eyes. "I found it."
"I found some relevant memories in this troll's mind about a Vanir woman working as a nurse in the castle. I think that's correct; the little prince is in the castle."
Skurge couldn't help but say, "Does Ulic want an adopted son of the Vanir?"
"Perhaps," Forseti said casually. "Maybe Ulic wants to indirectly influence or even rule the Vanir through this adopted son. After all, he can't completely eliminate the Vanir."
Fairwind geared up. "Very good, let's go. We'll be the saviors of the future king of the Vanir. This is exciting to think about!"
"This isn't necessarily the case. Hogan isn't the only survivor of the Vanir royal family," someone pointed out.
"What about these two trolls?"
Forseti replied, "Of course, we'll kill them."
Haldo said, "In that case, if the bodies are found..."
Forseti didn't speak and took out two large pills, round and black, like mud balls rubbed in the elbow socket after ten years of not taking a bath.
"This is…?"
"I invented a very poisonous drug, and I named it 'Black Widow.' It won't take effect immediately; it takes a day for the poison to kill, and it won't affect our next actions."
These two trolls were enemies, and Forseti had no reason to let them go.
However, the mission was to infiltrate and rescue. Killing them outright would alert the city if the bodies were found, leading to mission failure.
In this case, Black Widow Poison was the perfect choice.
Even if the trolls were discovered, they'd be seen as drunken sluggards. They wouldn't raise much alarm until the poison killed them the next day, by which time Forseti and his team would have long left.
Using the spider venom he collected in Vanaheim, Forseti had concocted the highly poisonous Black Widow, making its debut today.
Forseti put the poisonous pills into the trolls' mouths and led the group toward the castle in the center of the town.
"Stop, there are trolls patrolling behind the wall," Fairwind suddenly said. The team quickly hid.
A team of troll soldiers passed by with a wolfhound the size of a calf, its nose twitching occasionally.
Despite using the odorless potion, Forseti and the others were nervous at the sight of the wolfhound.
Fortunately, the potion's effect was reliable, and the patrol passed without incident.
The group continued to move forward and arrived near the castle.
"Captain, what do we do next? There are guards at the door," Fairwind said.
"Do you still want to sneak in through the door?"
"Uh... but there doesn't seem to be any other entrance except the door. The windows are too high. Could we break in through the wall?"
"That's exactly what we'll do," Forseti said. "Let's find a suitable place along the wall to break in."
The group carefully walked along the castle wall, and Fairwind kept observing the interior with his perspective eyes.
"Huh," Fairwind exclaimed.
"What's wrong?"
Fairwind pointed to the ground. "There seems to be a tunnel under this."
"A tunnel? Is it connected to the castle?" Forseti asked.
"I don't know. The tunnel is at the edge of my vision, so I can't see it clearly. Even if it is a tunnel, we can't access it from this depth."
After a while, Fairwind pointed and said, "Here, behind the wall is a small utility room with no one around."
Forseti looked around. It was a hidden place, next to a hill, with a few large trees providing cover. It was unlikely to be discovered.
He immediately took out the rock imprint staff and pointed it at the wall.
Rock Mark!
"Crash..."
Part of the wall surged and gathered into a rock puppet, easily opening an entrance with minimal noise.
"Captain, so you are a mage too," Fairwind said with a smile.
"Let's go in."
After entering the utility room, the rock puppet stood at the entrance for shelter and warning.
"I'll take Fairwind and Amora to explore. Skurge, you stay here," Forseti ordered, cutting the door lock with his blade. Fairwind and Amora followed him out of the utility room and into the castle.
Unlike the outside, the castle's interior was brightly lit, making the three very nervous despite the late hour.
"There's a troll coming this way!" Fairwind glared, sweeping around, and quickly pointed to a nearby room. "There's no one in this room, let's hurry in!"
Forseti quickly unlocked the door, and the three hid inside.
After a while, Fairwind heaved a sigh of relief. "The troll has passed."
The three carefully exited the room and continued to explore the castle. After a while, Fairwind pointed to another room and swallowed. "Here, there's a sleeping woman inside."
Forseti immediately unlocked the door and entered, finding a sleeping Vanir mortal.
The room was shabby and cramped, with signs of abuse on her body, indicating she was a servant of the trolls.
Fairwind looked distressed. "I think we should take her out of here."
"She didn't drink the odorless potion. She'll be discovered by the wolfhound. And she's a mortal; we can't protect her from harm," Forseti said, giving the maid a sleeping pill. He then told Amora, "Check her memory for any information about the little prince."
Amora nodded, placing her hands on the maid's forehead, and began reading her memory.
After a while, she opened her eyes. "I found it!"
