Chapter: Killing Ego
The meteor streaked across the sky with incredible speed, appearing above everyone's heads in the blink of an eye, revealing the figure of a young blond man.
A crown of flames blazed above his head, radiating light and heat that filled the surroundings like a warm breath. As he arrived, the dark sky seemed to dawn with the brilliance that tore through the clouds.
"Sun God!" Yondu exclaimed in surprise.
Forseti smiled, "Looks like I arrived just in time."
He turned to face the visage within the dark clouds, his smile fading, "Ego, can you explain your intentions?"
Ego remained silent for a moment, his face in the dark clouds growing more somber, "I merely seek to find my progeny..."
"I'm not your progeny!" Star-Lord pointed accusingly, "I seek vengeance for my mother!"
"Why do you persist in remembering a mere mortal?" Ego gazed at Star-Lord, "You carry my bloodline, a rarity. The woman of Earth was but a vessel."
"Boom boom boom!" Star-Lord fired repeatedly, beams piercing the clouds.
But it was futile. The beams dispersed the dark clouds momentarily, only for them to reform instantly. Ego's expression remained unchanged.
"You are my descendant, Peter," Ego asserted, "That is an irrefutable fact."
With that, the energy tentacles around them began to stir again, inching closer to Star-Lord and his comrades.
"Have you dismissed Asgard so easily, Ego?" Forseti's tone turned chilly.
The energy tentacles hesitated briefly, Ego's voice echoing gloomily from the dark clouds, "This is my personal matter, unrelated to Asgard."
Though he once held Asgard in high regard, now he focused solely on subduing Star-Lord and harnessing his power to fulfill ambitions spanning millennia, transcending galaxies.
At this moment, despite their sluggish movement, the energy tentacles continued their advance, poised to strike Star-Lord at any moment.
"Very well, let's discuss the relevant matters," Forseti continued, "Do you recall your allegiance to Odin?"
Ego offered no response, retorting darkly, "Must you meddle in my private affairs, Sun God?"
"If that's how you view it," Forseti replied calmly, "I know your plans, and I can assure you they will not succeed."
Silence hung in the air.
Suddenly, Ego erupted, energy tentacles surging towards Star-Lord!
Yet in that instant, a radiant light burst forth, revealing Carol's arrival.
"Boom--" Two beams shot from her palms, dispersing the surrounding energy tentacles in an instant.
Forseti was unsurprised.
Carol had accompanied him; Nebula, with her insights, had convinced Carol to join him upon learning of another Nebula's plight.
"Carol, take them to safety. Leave Ego to me," Forseti instructed.
"Are you sure?" Carol inquired.
"Reasonably. I wish to test the extent of my current abilities," Forseti affirmed.
Without further words, Carol escorted Star-Lord and the others onto the Guardians of the Galaxy's salvaged spaceship, launching it into space.
Ego attempted to intervene, energy tentacles extending fervently from the ground, pursuing Carol relentlessly.
Sulfuras warhammer flames erupted from Forseti's palm, forming fiery chains that incinerated the tentacles upon contact.
In those fleeting moments, Carol outpaced Ego, disappearing into the skies with Star-Lord and his companions.
"No--!" Ego bellowed in fury and frustration.
"Sun God, you shall pay for this!" he cried vehemently.
With Star-Lord gone, Ego's ambitions now focused solely on eliminating Forseti at any cost!
"A price?" A radiant holy light emanated from Forseti, transforming into a spectral form, part ethereal, part corporeal.
Forseti's form expanded at an incredible rate, soaring to a height surpassing even a kilometer within seconds, towering majestically amidst the cosmos, comparable to Ego's planetary body.
"What!" Ego stared in disbelief at the colossal celestial figure.
"Ego, your perception of me remains dated," Forseti's voice resonated across the planet's lithosphere.
With that declaration, he brandished the radiant Greatsword, its brilliance akin to the sun, illuminating the universe.
From afar, Carol observed Forseti and murmured, "He has become the sun..."
Ego, restricted by the ponderous movements of his planetary form, could only watch as Forseti's Holy Light Greatsword descended from the heavens.
"No, no..." Ego trembled in horror, "I am loyal to Asgard now. You cannot kill me!"
Forseti paid no heed, declaring sternly, "Face the retribution of the blazing sun!"
"Boom--"
The immense Holy Light Greatsword cleaved through the sky and stratosphere, igniting thunder and flames that rent the air asunder, striking the planet's surface with cataclysmic force.
Ego marshaled all his power in futile resistance against the devastating assault.
Ultimately, the Greatsword cleaved through the planet's crust, piercing towards Ego's core amidst violent tremors and upheaval.
"Boom!!"
The Greatsword bisected the planet, Ego's cries for mercy and vengeance abruptly silenced, replaced by a resounding explosion within.
Thus perished Ego's malevolent consciousness.
With the resounding boom, Ego's malevolent spirit vanished into oblivion beneath the eye of reckoning.
Having expended his power to execute the Star Slash, Forseti's form involuntarily shrank back to human proportions, the Destruction Crown above his head dimming.
Forseti understood that the Crown's fire, spent in the execution, had extinguished naturally.
