Part IV
Guffy: That guy was a real bastard, my brother.
Guffy says while looking at the bruise on my forehead.
After having been on the road for several hours, we arrived at this prison and were locked up without hearing a word from anyone else.
I don't know if it's just temporary, but all of us who were in the warehouse are locked in the same place.
Or at least part of it, since the bodies were left there when they took us from the place.
In a corner is Carón sitting casually.
For a moment I thought he died but he still seems fine.
He made a tourniquet with a piece of his shirt to prevent bleeding from the wound on his left shoulder; and judging by his hands, he had the guts to pull the bullet out of his skin with his nails.
That guy is an accomplished warrior.
Guffy: We're in big trouble, my brother.
Mikael: Actually, the chances of salvation are practically zero, since they caught us completely and our fingerprints are on everything.
We must be realistic, since vague hopes are for fools.
I wonder what my family's reaction will be when they find out about this fact.
The eldest son and potential future pride of the family, who took the wrong path, is now in jail for drug trafficking.
Will they be concerned about social status and prestige or the well-being of the individual in question?
No alibi for salvation will be of help...
Most of those present here are only sitting, and some others are sleeping at five in the morning.
The sun gradually begins to rise and visibility is no longer poor.
There is not even electricity in here, but we had a little visibility through a light beacon that is in the external hallway of this cage.
There are other cells, but most seem to be empty, or perhaps the inhabitants are sleeping; But the truth is that since we arrived at this place, the smell of sulfur and excrement is suffocating.
While I was thinking that, suddenly we heard footsteps approaching along with the sound of doors opening in the distance.
Naturally we were alerted by peering through the bars of our very small cell. And seeing first of all several armed men and several others who seem to be prison guards.
I guess the time has come...
...: Get out quickly!
It was the first order of the guards when they opened the door.
Once everyone was outside, we were divided and each one was escorted in opposite directions.
I guess this is how it goes: I'm walking next to an armed security guard and surrounded by strangers.
No more than a few minutes of walking, we finally reached a large door that, when opened in two, greeted us outside surrounded by criminals.
It is a cage but on a large scale.
The security guard approaches me and hands me a type of credential with my name and ID number printed on it. And without saying or even looking at me, he entered the previous facility.
Well, it's not like someone will come to teach you the rules of prison either.
Obviously I will have to be careful with anyone who has to be close to me: there are those who show their insanity and betrayal without saying a word; and the atmosphere reeks of death while there are pools of blood in every corner.
I feel like I'm being watched and will be killed at any moment.
That's how strong the tension of being inside this place will be; and there are those who end up in madness without even finishing their sentence.
Although I am a peculiar case at this moment...
Where will Guffy and Carón be?
...: Do you need a guide?
Says an old guard when he sees me still standing at the entrance.
Since I entered I saw him walking, or more like he was patrolling the area.
I guess I'll take advantage of the moment.
Mikael: I'm really new.
...: I will start by asking one thing, what is your crime?
Mikael: I was transporting drugs to make money, it turned out to be this.
...: I understand, at least you are not a psychopath and rapist.
...: I'll give you a quick introduction, as I usually do with new ones; or at least, I almost always guide them a little.
Zero Seven is divided into zones and residences inhabited by its population, and in which the guards are oblivious to its rules and lifestyle but to a certain extent.
Zone A-1 [In judicial process]
Zone A-2 [In timeout]
Zone B-1 [Residences]
Zone B-2 [Residences]
Zone B-3 [Residences]
Zone B-4 [Residences]
Zone C-1 [Interactive centers]
Zone C-2 [Interactive centers]
Zone C-3 [Interactive centers]
And as for mealtime times, each residential area has its own establishment where food is served at certain rotating hours, since there is no fixed period for it.
I hadn't realized it at the time, but on the back of my credential it says that I should belong to zone B-2.
Interactive zones have many types of entertainment and other facilities for the individual concerned; or call it redeem if it is for the prisoners.
There are no specific schedules for different things such as: time to eat, sleep and stay in areas. But there are rules to respect such as their limits.
Community work can help reduce the sentence, and so can other places; although it depends on the individual in question.
Michael: I understand.
...: You will learn little by little once you have a few months in this place.
...: Just try not to get into trouble or get involved with anyone.
Although I don't plan to last long, I don't think it's necessary to go into details, but it was a kind explanation on your part.
As long as that man fulfills his part of the deal as planned...
Mikael: Thank you for your kind explanation, I think I will go to rest in my residential area.
...: Don't worry, I do this as a hobby and a good way to help others even if they don't ask me to.
...: See you later.
That good human being says goodbye and continues with his previous work.
As for what I should now proceed, I suppose I will rest in the residential area assigned to me.
From the short time I have spent here, I have noticed that many walks and there does not seem to be any means of transportation.
How big will this place be?
And in addition to what was mentioned, there are rules that correspond to the zero seven policies but "they do not get involved unless they are not within the limits."
That part made me realize that there are regulations and lifestyles of the prisoners that must be respected by this place.
I'd better start moving before a certain person can locate me and under such circumstances.
