Chapter 37

~Kamari~

While Koa went to the sea, I sat and braided my son's hair like I did for his father. "Let me see," I said, turning his face towards me. Every time I looked at him, my heart filled with warmth. "Am I pretty?" Ryuu asks with a bratty smile. Yup. He was getting his Father's sassiness.

I pinch his cheek, "Stop it." He pulls away, "Ouch." He rubs his face, "When Father returns, I want to go out."

"Again? You've barely been here with me. Don't you love me?" I tease. Ryuu smiles and rolls his eyes. "Yes, I do." I tilt my head.

"Then why the urgency?"

Ryuu looks down. "I miss the waters," he says, yet I felt my whelping had something he wasn't telling me—mother's intuition. "Uh-huh." I tilt my head. Ryuu starts to draw in the sand. "I am this big now in the water."

He draws Koa massively and then himself, spanning the length of Koa's tail. "Wow. When I had you, you were a little worm." I giggle. Ryuu glares at me. "I'm insulted."
