Chapter 59 The Awakening

Ada Sobowale's days were usually filled with navigating the labyrinthine streets of Lagos's slums, interviewing residents, and chasing down leads. Today, however, there was an unusual tension in the air, a palpable sense of something going awry. She felt it even before she arrived at her destination – a malfunctioning water purification system that served the slum’s impoverished inhabitants.

As Ada walked through the narrow, crowded streets, she took in the vibrant yet deteriorated environment. The slums were a stark contrast to the gleaming skyscrapers that pierced the polluted skyline of the elite districts. Here, the air was thick with the stench of overflowing garbage, the hum of malfunctioning machinery, and the distant echo of street vendors calling out their meager wares. Neon lights flickered intermittently, casting an eerie glow over the ramshackle homes.
