Prologue

–First Person POV–

Even now they chase me unaware of the things I've done to help them.

How insolent! But they shall be forgiven since I achieved my goal. This lab will have to be abandoned, a shame I liked this one a bit.

I pick up the test tube filled with a publishing liquid and put it in a small container.

As if on cue the doors burst open revealing a large group of people each wearing bulletproof jackets and carrying large heavy rifles which were currently trained on every part of my body.

The woman at the front of the group was not wearing any protection of any sort and was not armed but she seemed to be the most dangerous person in the room. Her pale skin, long white hair and silver eyes which accentuated her beauty were lost on me since her features were twisted in hatred and disgust.

" Bernhard Wagner, on the authority of the Fortress 15, you are under arrest. Any action you take right now will only serve to increase your sentence. Now hand it over!" She said as she walked towards me not having any fear of a concealed weapon being on me.

I actually had a gun on me but I would definitely not bring it out. I had seen this woman twist a gun in half before and I did not intend for her to do the same to me.

As she stood in front of me, handcuffs already clasped on my hands securely, I felt the urge to tell her of my deeds, of the things I had done for humanity but I held it back.

No one must know at least not immediately, it would only cause panic and unrest, the path to humanity's salvation was meant to be slow and gradual.

"Hand it over!" She said with rising anger. The 'it' she was referring to was the test tube in my pocket that contained the accumulation of my knowledge and the merging of ancestral blood. Naturally, I was not going to hand it over that easily.

"Elizabeth Stein, do you seriously think that you can catch me? If you could you would have long apprehended me two years ago but you failed, what makes you think that you will succeed now." I said with a taunting smile on my face angering her even further.

Just as she was about to slap me, I raised my cuffed hands in surrender stunning her and every other person in the room.

"I surrender, the thing is in my pocket." I said in a tired tone of voice like a man who had just come from war.

Elizabeth looked at me hesitantly before waving one of her men to come and frisk me. The man in question was stocky and tall so he had to bend over to reach into my pocket.

Poor him.

As soon as he put his hands into my pocket, the lab instantly turned dark.

Ahhhhhhhhh!

The man who wanted to search me knelt on the floor clutching his badly burnt arm, his screams of agony were not as pleasing as I thought they would sound like. But still the acid wasn't supposed to hurt that much right?

The sound of gunfire brought me out of my thoughts, a panicked soldier shooting at who knows what. Right I had to do something immediately and that was to... run away obviously. There was no way I was going to stand a chance against an armed, trained squad plus that scary woman was still here and I has no doubt that she would recover from the sudden darkness.

Relying on my memory alone, I silently moved towards the door at the end. Just as I was about to open the door something grazed my shoulder at high speeds taking a chunk of my flesh with it.

"Bernhard! Stop right there!" Elizabeth roared making me curse, she sounded dangerously close plus the brief window of light from the gun firing had allowed her to locate my current position.

I hurriedly ran through the door not bothering to close it and ran up the series of stairs that would lead to the roof, perfect.

The sound of footsteps below me only served as to make me increase my speed, the door was in my sight.

I pulled it open to reveal blinding light.

Yes! Finally!

–Third Person POV–

Bernhard stood at the edge of the roof facing Elizabeth who had just emerged from below.

The silver haired woman glared at him with immense hatred wanting to tear him apart but she could not make any moves for fear of the man jumping down.

Bernhard reached into his pocket making her flinch and slowly pulled out a test tube filled with purple liquid.

"Elizabeth can you guess what will happen if I open this thing up right now." He said playfully.

"....!"

"It will immediately turn into gas and judging from the wind direction, it will float there." He pointed at a nearby town filled with the hustling and bustling of people. "But even if you manage to stop me from using this one, I have already planted more in every major Fortress under the Final Nation. They will all be infected with this little virus of mine."

At this point most of Elizabeth's men had joined the two and were steadily and slowly advancing toward Bernhard who was playfully shaking the small test tube.

Elizabeth remained silent taking the new information in and processing it.

"Why are you doing this?! Why do you want yo kill millions of people!? For what reason!!" Elizabeth shouted.

"We both know that I'm doing the right thing here. Humanity is at its last leg here, from the constant effects of nuclear wars to the ever increasing numbers of mutated zones, humanity is on the path to extinction. I'm doing a humanity a favour!

The so-called Final Nation government is too busy fighting for scraps of the old civilization and desperately trying to find ways to hide from their extinction. " He paused to calm himself down. "Imagine it Elizabeth, a planet free from nuclear waste with genetically enhanced humans being the norm, no mutant beasts, no pollution, no nothing. Everyone will be happy..... Everyone no matter what it takes.

"Elizabeth you are a good person so I will let you experience my paradise too." Bernhard smiled and threw the test tube close to Elizabeth.

As soon as the liquid came in contact with the ground it bubbled and floated up as gas, Elizabeth immediately covered her nose.

"BERNHARD!"

In response to that the man smiled and jumped off the roof.

The squad rushed to the edge but they saw no blood splatter or crushed limbs and brain juice, Bernhard stood there unharmed stroking the fur of a large creature with a grotesque appearance. The soldiers raimed their guns to shoot Bernhard but he disappeared with his grotesque beast.

"Shit."
