Chapter 22: The Rewards of the Mangekyou

Yuhara hadn't realized that the two books he randomly picked were actually copies of "Icha Icha Paradise." No wonder the bookstore owner gave him such a strange look. The books were bought, and there was no way he was going to return them. Whether Shisui would read his copy was uncertain, but Yuhara knew he would definitely take a look.

Curiosity piqued, Yuhara wondered what made this book so beloved by Kakashi in the future. However, before diving into his new read, Yuhara had tasks to handle: reporting the mission, asking someone to melt and reforge Raiga's sword, among other things. Luckily, Shisui volunteered to take care of these matters. He even offered to reach out to and gather some Uchiha who had fought on the battlefield with them, and to communicate with the clan elders to gauge their stance. If he could win them over, it would significantly ease their burden.

For now, Yuhara could only hope for a favorable outcome. With some free time, he decided to sit on a bench by the roadside in Konoha and start reading the book he bought.

"What... what kind of nonsense is this?"

Yuhara's face grew more and more peculiar as he read. The content, penned by Jiraiya, was quite subpar in his opinion. Although it had elements Yuhara was curious about, the writing left much to be desired, especially in terms of detail.

Having read more sophisticated works like "Faster Than a Kiss" and "Twelve Kingdoms," Yuhara found Jiraiya's writing lacking. Frustrated, he snapped the book shut, muttering to himself, "He doesn't even know how to write about feet. Doesn't he know how fun that can be?"

Realizing that people around him were giving him odd looks and whispering, Yuhara sighed. Was this book really worth all the attention?

"Still, if writing this kind of book can earn a decent income, maybe I should give it a shot. Forget novels, I could even try writing doujinshi!" Yuhara thought.

Maybe it was the boost from his Mangekyou Sharingan or the resolution of Shisui's situation, but Yuhara was in a good mood. He knew he still had a long way to go before escaping real danger, but he wasn't one to dwell on misery. Keeping oneself constantly tense wasn't beneficial; a bit of relaxation was essential for better performance.

Mulling over this, Yuhara decided to grab some food and then find a training ground to experiment with his new abilities. This mission had been incredibly rewarding: he had acquired the Mangekyou Sharingan and learned Wind Release techniques. However, mastering these new skills required practice and adaptation.

While the Mangekyou Sharingan was powerful, Yuhara was cautious. He remembered how Sasuke had nearly blinded himself within a month. Yet, it was crucial for him to understand the changes and enhancements the Mangekyou brought, especially to his chakra.

"Since obtaining the Mangekyou, my physical abilities and chakra have improved, although the growth is more pronounced in my chakra," Yuhara noted mentally.

He recalled Madara Uchiha mentioning something about a 'straight tomoe' in the Sharingan, which supposedly made one more agile. However, Yuhara couldn't quite grasp what it meant, as Madara's original Sharingan had three connected tomoe, which didn't appear 'straight' at all.

In contrast, Madara's Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, which he achieved after transplanting his brother's eyes, had three straight lines. As for Sasuke's eyes, which resembled a curvy hexagram, the design became linear after integrating Itachi's eyes.

Without a clear understanding of this 'straight tomoe' concept, Yuhara preferred to rely on his own experiences. He noticed significant improvements in his chakra's quality and quantity since awakening the Mangekyou, independent of his training efforts.

"The overall boost is considerable, with a focus on chakra, though my physical abilities lag a bit. But that's not a big issue since I have the 'Taoist Reversal' technique," Yuhara reasoned.

This technique, akin to Sage Mode, assured him that his physical prowess could catch up, despite the toll it took on his ocular power. He planned to use it sparingly, ensuring his eye power lasted long enough to resolve the threats they faced.

"Plus, with the system as a backup, I can relax a bit. I should also dedicate time to honing my swordsmanship."

Just as he was pondering how to make the ninja world experience the wrath of 'attacking the shadow,' he heard someone calling him.

"Yuhara?"

The voice, melodious yet surprised, carried a hint of laziness. Turning, Yuhara was taken aback to see a girl with long black hair tied in a ponytail.

Recognizing her instantly, Yuhara remembered this girl was a former teammate whose name had left a lasting impression on him. She was a member of the Nara clan, named Nara Kotoba.
