White reaper

In the barren expanse of the wilderness, a lone figure sat across the branch of a tree. His figure looked so spectral with his snow white hair and pale skin. Even his closed eyes further added to his mystery.

A shallow breath escaped his nostrils, he was sleeping. And from such a dangerous height too. A fall from the height where he was stationed, several meters up was sure to do more than break a few bones if they got careless, it meant death.

Chisuke sat on the tree, careless. Clad in a haori worn over a kimono or equally dark colours, the boy courted death with every breath he drew.

He looked no older than a day past his teens, yet tied on his waist were swords, two of them. The boy held ownership a katana and wakizashi that looked like they had been very well used.

A hand rested on the golden hilt of his katana. His grip tightened as the night gave way to dawn. He was starting to wake up from his slumber.

The sun rose from past the horizons with it's blinding rays chasing away the night. Then a gale blew, brushing against the young samurai, throwing him off his balance. Without so much as a chance to save himself, his story abruptly came to an end as he fell to his death.

A thud could be heard a moment later as Chisuke landed on the ground along with the familiar crackling of bone.

Chisuke lay listless on the floor like a corpse, however as much as he wanted to be one, death was a not a luxury he was allowed. The swordsman promptly rose on his feet.

The whole scene made for an honestly bone-chilling sight as he stood regardless of the state of his body. His bones crackled once more as they aligned themselves and finally he placed a hand on his neck and straightened it.

A stifled sight escaped his lips.

"What a pain."

Standing whole after being put back together, Chisuke parted his eyelids revealing two monstrous eyes. They were like orbs of darkness with black scleras and crimson irises, even the dark circles underneath them made one shudder at the sight of the boy.

His face perfectly sculpted paired beautiful well with his hair and eyes giving him an unearthly sort of beauty, the type that mortal creatures held no hope of possessing. So much so that it had to be veiled.

Chisuke produced an oni mask from his robes to cover his face.

The mask bore scars—crimson rivers tracing its grain—each mark a testament to battles fought in realms beyond mortal ken. Bloodstains clung to its edges, memories etched in blackened wood. When Chisuke donned it, he became more than flesh; he became vengeance incarnate.

A step, then another, then one more. Chisuke moved through the wilderness without stop. His wooden sandals mercilessly trampling over the flora underneath them only stopping after catching sight of a city not far in the distance.

The city beckoned—a new hunt in sight. Chisuke stepped toward it, crimson eyes unyielding. Beyond lay answers, or perhaps oblivion. He wondered if redemption awaited or if he'd be swallowed by the void.

And so, the white-haired swordsman ventured forth, mask concealing his pain, blade thirsting for purpose.

Silently cursing, Chisuke lamented his fate. If only things were that simple. But alas he was immortal with no chance at death. Even the thrill of a fight to the death eluded him, but that was ok.

He had long come to terms with his fate and even found solace in it. He was heading towards a city in search of a demon. He had come to take pleasure in the death of the monstrous creatures, and what better way to end the creatures than by his blade.

"What a beautiful sight."

Faced with the magnificent sight of the city Chisuke couldn't held but admire it. He crossed the moat serving as the city's defense and entered it mixing with the populace.

All around him were people with cheerful smiles. They all went about their business without a care in the world.

He wondered how many had fallen. From the look on the people's faces, probably a few. Maybe one, or two, or ten.

Unknown to the good people, a monster roamed in disguise. Under the cover of night people were sure to be eaten, that was certain. That was what demon's did. They ate people out of a need to survive. That as well as some twisted perverted sense of superiority.

A smile spread underneath Chisuke's mask. He reveled at the thought how much he could cut the demon before it would inevitable pass on to the next world.

A small crowd had already begun to form around him attracted by his strange mask.

I shouldn't get distracted.

"If I'm going to do this, then I might as well do it right."

Chisuke took a deep breath and exhaled. Behind the slits of his mask, his eyes closed.

A flood of overwhelming bloodlust radiated from his body making the living turn their gaze away from him. The birds moved in opposite directions as did all the crawling critters.

His grip fell on his katana, and his breath stilled. His overwhelming bloodlust was refined into a single murderous will.

"I am Chisuke kutsuki. I am a harbinger of death. I am the one of cursed blood."

When his eyes opened, the twin flames burning behind them had been condensed into something fiercer.

 He was ready.

Beside Chisuke a young child stood in awe of his... dignified appearance.
