Observation

Locus turned around over and over again.

There was no doubt about it. The two of them were standing in a forest.

"We're on the outskirts of the city. There should be plenty of boars here, so let's begin observing your way of working right away."

Locus turned to Genken.

"What? Are you just going to pretend like we didn't teleport here a second ago?"

"I never lie, so I won't deny it. It's my ability."

Locus was shocked once more.

"You've got a teleportation ability!?"

"Yup."

Genken looked like it was no big deal, but in actuality it was a huge deal.

"You can just ignore me and do whatever you're planning to do. Do you need anything else?"

Locus didn't know what to say. He just turned around and started looking for a boar. He assumed that he'd learn more about it as time went on.

After searching for about 10 minutes with Genken just trotting behind Locus, the ladder found a horde of boars on a clearing. It looked like they were eating.

"Here, get behind this bush."

Locus pointed at scrub by the side of the grass, about 20 feet from the closest boar. He had seen this a few times back in Condre Village.

Without objecting, Genken sat down behind it, while Locus approached the horde from behind. He only needed one of them. The rest could get away.

Locus drew his katana. His range was pretty limited, so he had to get in close.

Locus assumed that he'd need to get in a radius of about 2 or 3 feet to deal a fatal blow, but as he got closer and closer to the boar, every step made it seem more unlikely that he would be able to get this close.

When he was about 5 feet away, the boar that was closest to him suddenly looked up. Fearing that it might run away and startle the other boars, which would cause a chain reaction, Locus thought that he had to act now.

He took the katana in his right hand and threw it at the boar, hitting its side. It grunted, making the other boars run away, but the boar that was targeted by Locus was too hurt. Locus picked up the katana and finished it off.

That was when he realized that carrying it could prove to be a problem since he didn't bring something to help him, and he probably couldn't count in Genken since he was just an observer.

Locus would have to carry it by himself for who knows how far.

He sighted. Then he remembered the rope that was part of his adventurer gear, took it out, tied up the boar, and prepared to drag it around with him.

That was when Locus realized that he didn't know the way back. Genken had teleported the both of them to a place that wasn't familiar to Locus. Maybe he would tell Locus where the city was.

When Locus got back to the bush that Genken was supposed to wait behind, he was confused yet again. Genken was sound asleep. Locus woke him up.

"Hello? Didn't you want to watch me?"

Genken opened his eyes.

"Hm? You're done already?"

"Yes, which way do I get back to the city?"

"Oh, I'll take care of that."

Genken touched Locus' shoulder, and suddenly, both of them were back in the city, standing in a small alley, from which Locus could see the guild.

"Go get your reward and take another quest. Anyone you like."

When Locus came back with a quest, Genken was once again asleep. Locus woke him up. Genken looked pleased.

"Great, now that that's done, I'd like you to complete this mission by only using your ability as your weapon and tool. If you fail to do this, I'll personally kill you."
