Provisional Aura Training

After being left alone in his room, Locus suddenly felt a bit lighter. After taking some time, of which he had plenty, to think about it, Locus came to the conclusion that the extra weight must have been Genken's force field.

If it could exert this much pressure, Genken must be pretty powerful. How could it be that he was only an F-rank adventurer?

Come to think of it, Genken had casually rented a room at Locus' hotel. Genken seemed to have acquired quite the fortune.

Maybe he was from a rich family?

That would explain why he had nothing better to do than to teach Locus, and it would also explain how Genken came into possession of knowledge and skills, as well as his low rank, since he'd have no real reason to raise it.

While having all these thoughts, Locus had his eyes closed the whole time. After all that had happened, Locus decided for himself that he could trust his teacher and what he said.

That was when Locus remembered his task. He was supposed to monitor the other guests of the hotel to the best of his abilities. When he put it this way, it sounded a little bit creepy. But that was a price, which Locus was willing to pay if his reward was the downfall of the Mastermind Guild.

For the rest of the day, Locus focused on the dizziness, on the different waves that caused it, the different Auras that he felt.

It reminded him of a ship that was sailing the sea while going up and down. It quickly made Locus tired, until he finally fell asleep.

He slept for quite a while, because when he woke up the next morning, the sun was already rising. Actually, Locus didn't wake up by himself. Something woke him up from his slumber. Could it have been a knock on his door?

Locus sat up in bed while the door opened. Suddenly, Locus felt a lot of pressure that seemed to push him down. He knew immediately what was going on and sprinted to his katana, which was lying on the desk just two steps away from the bed.

The door swung open while Locus drew the katana. Genken was standing in the door. He had a sleepy smile on his face. Locus was smiling as well.

"I remembered it."

Locus had thought about a tactic to save him from fainting when Genken had left the room the day before.

"I block your force field with my own, which gets increased by the katana, just like you showed me."

Genken raised his eyebrows.

"I know."

He walked inside of the room.

"How are you feeling today?"

After waking up, Locus hadn't had any time to check his own body.

"The dizziness seems to be gone."

"I'd like you to close your eyes again."

"Okay."

Locus did as Genken said. Now all he saw was black. Suddenly, Locus dodged to the right. He instinctively opened his eyes. Genken's hand was just a few inches away from his head.

"Very good. You perceived my attack without seeing it."

Locus didn't know how to react to that.

"HAVE YOU LOST IT? I COULD HAVE DIED!"

"But you are alive. That's all that counts."

"NO, IT'S NOT!"

"Nonsense. Now go and get dressed. We're departing."

Locus put away his katana.

"Departing? Where are we going?"

"We'll first play some hide and seek, and after that, we will pay a visit to the guild."

"The guild? Why?"

"Because I want you to see some other strong Auras. And after that, we'll start with your actual training."

"My actual training?"

"It consists of different kinds of skills that you need to acquire. Stuff like physical strength, speed, and also Aura. But to learn some of it, you might need something else first. That's why the training is rather diverse."

That actually made sense to Locus, since he had already thought about how to train Aura without having any significant amount.

"With which kind of training will we be starting?"

Genken had a mischievous smile on his face.

"Let's call it 'hiking'."

That could not be a good sign.
