Chapter 3 Sudden Announcement

Bea

"Tsk, stop paying attention to my haircut! If our classmates hadn't blackmailed me, saying they'd tell Marco I have a crush on him if I didn't shave my head like them, I wouldn't have done it! Grr!" Mathew fumed beside me.

So that's why he got the haircut. Honestly, I thought he was straight when we first met, but as we got closer, it became clear he wasn't.

"You're bald now because of that Marco. And who is he, anyway? I think I'm the only one who doesn't know him!" I shook my head.

"You're such a boomer! Duh. Marco? You don't know him, for real? We've been at this school for two years, and you still don't know Marco? He's the president of the school council, duh. Everyone chases after him, and you're saying you don't know him?" He raised an eyebrow at me.

"And you? You shaved your head for someone who doesn't even know you?" I shot back at him.

"Hey!! He will know me, just wait and see!" He glared at me.

I just shrugged and let him have his delusion. For real? He shaved his head for someone who didn't even know he existed? Anyway, it's his life. Besides, I didn't even know this Marco. With the size of the school, it's natural I wouldn't recognize everyone. I'm not exactly social around here either.

"By the way, have you finished the assignment Ma'am gave us?" Mathew asked.

I shook my head. "Not yet. Don't we have two more days before it's due? There's still plenty of time. I'll probably do it tomorrow."

He looked at me in disbelief. "Girl, you should avoid cramming. All I hear from you are rants whenever there's a deadline for schoolwork."

It's not like he's the one doing it, and I don't choose to cram. Whenever I see my schoolwork, I just lose motivation.

I just pouted. "Hmp."

"You know, if we weren't friends, I'd have pushed you off your chair a long time ago. You look ugly when you pout!" He teased.

"And you? You look ugly with your bald head!" I retorted.

"Excuse me!" He placed his hand on his chest, acting offended.

I couldn't hold back my laughter anymore and burst out laughing at his reaction. "You know, you should stop acting like that. It doesn't suit you, especially now that you're bald," I said, still laughing.

He just rolled his eyes at me. A few minutes later, our teacher arrived.

"I have an important announcement. Next week is your exam week," she began.

We were all shocked at her announcement.

"Ma'am, why so early? Isn't it usually two or three weeks before exam week starts?" one of my classmates complained.

"Exactly, there's been a lot of changes in the school calendar, and the dean instructed us to inform you as soon as possible," our teacher calmly explained.

"Ma'am, how are we supposed to prepare for this? We all know you can't take the exams if your balance isn't paid. Besides, finding money isn't easy," my classmate pointed out. Most of us were half scholars, so many students struggled financially.

"I'll raise that concern with the dean. Maybe there will be changes to the school calendar. Actually, I'm a bit surprised too because of the new calendar. The dean explained that it's due to the numerous students enrolling here," our teacher explained.

Our adviser dismissed us early. As soon as she left, the whole class groaned in disbelief.

"Shit, how am I going to tell my parents about this?" one of my classmates fretted.
