Three shots!

Getting into the car we drove off. Passing through East Flatbush, we headed towards Canarsie, where the abandoned building they were sighted in was located.

Looking up at the brick building, in which 3 people were hiding, i sighed.

A 12 floor abandoned apartment building. God knows how long it would take to comb the building for the 3 suspects. Or how badly it would smell inside.

Having parked the car a few hundred meters away so its out of sight from the building, we met up with the informant. Sadly, he confirmed they were still inside there, probably on the 10th floor, and they were planning on getting away soon.

Leaving his apartment we started making a plan of action.

We would both enter the building at the same time, except I would go from the rooftop. At first, Ronald was vehemently opposed to it as this put me at much more risk of being the first one to get in contact with them.

"Trust me, Ronald, i can handle myself. Im more worried for you, so don't go getting yourself shot, hear me?" with a smile i reassured him.

Keeping quiet, after a while he finally nodded.

He went for the front door on the first floor, while i made my way up the emergency stairs that were on the back of the building i kept looking at the windows to check if anyone was looking at me. However, the small journey proved pretty scary, as the entire staircase felt unstable.

Smoothly, I arrived at the rooftop, having finally gotten back to solid ground.

Looking around, i found the exit door, or in this case, my entrance. Having gotten to here i pulled out my revolver and got it ready with a singular 'click'.

With confidence, i put my hand on the doorknob, turning it around slowly.

Finally, the door opened, peeking carefully from the sides of the doorframe, there was nobody there. All the while semi-crouching, i got inside the building and closed the door behind me. Peeking down the stairs and seeing there was nobody down there either made me somewhat relax. While there was trash everywhere and the stench was assaulting my nose, i kept descending the stairs, one step at a time.

Arriving at the highest floor, i went to every single door and checked for any traces of activity. A few seconds later, confirming there was no traces of humans, with the apparent layer of dust on the entire floor, i went deeper.

Again, there was nothing but dust and trash everywhere on this floor. The occasional rat that would run away after seeing me, too.

Getting down yet another layer lower, there was a stark difference here. The dust was almost non existent and there was much less garbage assaulting your sense of smell. Knowing that i hit the jackpot i checked apartment after apartment for a human presence. Finally, the 3rd room from the stairs seems to have people talking behind the door.

Trying to listen in, i was quickly shocked by the conversation.

"boss... Dead...cops...Kingpin... Reinforcement...soon..... " hearing these vague words made me realise this may be far more dangerous than i thought. Kingpin was one of the people i remember!

A supervillain who also had a bunch of highly trained supervillains under him. A crime lord who was responsible for most of New Yorks major crime syndicates.

Hearing the words that reinforcements were going to arrive soon, i had to pick what to do. Do i gamble on trying to ambush all 3 of them and get them arrested, or do i get out of here considering a big boss could show up right now.

The obvious choice... Wait why is there footsteps approaching the door.

Breaking into a very fast tiptoe, i got behind the corner just in time. Thankfully, no squeaky things were placed around the apartment. The 3 gangsters, having exited the room, were a mere 10 meters away from me.

As this wasn't the main stairway they decided that they would want to head down here. Luckily i had climbed up a bit further to avoid situations where they could see me. Looking down on them as they started descending, i noticed the left one was carrying the mentioned AK47.

For a split second, I hesitated. There was 6 meters, at most, between us...

Then, i stood up from the safety of cover and activated , excitement surging through my veins.

With the first bang, the man on the right had a hole in his shoulder.

The second bang dropped the guy on the left, for good.

And the third bang shot a hole through the arm of the last guy. As his glock dropped i ran to them, yelling:

"DON'T MOVE, YOU'RE UNDER ARREST, ONE TWITCH AND IM BLOWING A HOLE THROUGH YOUR HEAD."

Having gotten to here, both of the still kicking bastards decided not to resist. Cuffing them both, i waited for my partner to show up as i kept watch over them.

Finally, not even a minute later Ronald ran to this floor with panic in his eyes. Seeing me unharmed and with 3 on the floor he relaxed. Yet i had to disappoint him.

"Grab one. We're running out of here. Kingpins reinforcements, according to what i overheard from them, are coming. As for the last guy just report it later."

"Wha- wha- What?! Kingpins grunts will be here!?" grabbing one of them before i could reply, he ran down the stairs.

Grabbing the other one i followed right after.

Having ran down so many stairs both of us were tired, yet neither of us had the mood to stop.

With the civilians seeing us carrying the 2 idiots on our arms with blood dripping from them arousing quite a shock, we knew we'd get scolded. Finally, arriving at the car and throwing both of them, this time literally, inside, we got in. Never had i ever fastened a seatbelt so fast, and slammed the pedal to the metal.

As we came back to the station, we decided to report everything they brought up, especially Kingpins involvement. And that they still had to clean up a corpse over there.

Having spent an extra hour reporting everything in detail to Sarge Smith, and then finishing writing my report, I was getting a vacation for a day. Partially because this could be huge, partially because Sarge had to listen to a lot of complaints from the public relations guys over "2 cops carrying 2 wounded suspects in the middle of the day."

As i left the station, i was finally relaxed. Heading home, the only thing i was thinking about where to get a new gun for cheap.

-------------------------------

Looking down at the corpse and the 2 puddles of blood that had solidified, i was angry. Not because someone killed grunts that were Kingpins toys, but because MY time was wasted. If i ever find who you are, you're getting a bullet to the head.
