Night Out

Scott woke on the sofa in his study. He was groggy from a night of heavy drinking and too little sleep. After he had poured Nicholas into his bed around three, Scott had returned to the study and finished off the remainder of a bottle of scotch before passing out on the sofa. He had never talked to Ana about being gone all night, and knew he was likely to pay for that.

Scott sometimes felt he was at war with the whole world. Being constantly at war with his brother was bad enough. Now he fought against Coulter and the looming threat of Ana's identity being discovered. He had no doubt there would be many more battles in his future just to keep his family happy and together.
