Chapter 10

The dining hall buzzed with people, the pack house filled with the scents of food, drinks, and murmurs of conversation. It was already evening, and it had taken them hours to finish up the summit. Finally, everyone was allowed to wine and dine.

Katherine moved quietly among the guests, her eyes lowered, wanting to keep her distance. Astrid had somehow dragged her to the dinner space, making sure to have Katherine attached to her by all means, until Beta Sam called her away.

Katherine walked into the kitchen, a sigh escaping her lips. All day she had been tense, wondering if they would recognize her. It was highly unlikely, but there was always a slight chance for that to happen.

"Come on, chalk it up and work. We can't afford to be lenient right now. There are so many alphas and Lunas out there, all hands have to be on deck, you know," a stern voice jolted Katherine out of her thoughts. She looked up to see a middle-aged woman talking to a younger woman.
