A sharp knock at the door made the two flinch. Katherine moved to pull away, but Kieran pulled her closer, sliding his hand into her mouth.

"Alpha Kieran, are you in there?" Sam's voice called from the other side, muffled but clear enough, making Katherine jump. She pulled away, her lips red and swollen.

Katherine's eyes widened slightly. "I should go," she whispered, brushing past Kieran before he could stop her. Her hand trembled as she reached for the doorknob, but she managed to open it just as Sam was about to knock again.

The beta stood on the other side, hands hanging mid-air, mouth open to call out to Kieran for the third time. His eyes landed on Katherine.

"Katherine?" Sam said, his voice filled with surprise. Katherine didn't look at him, mumbling something incoherent as she hurried past him, rushing to her room.
