Katherine stood beside Kieran, her fingers barely grazing the edge of her gown, a nervous habit she couldn't shake off. Kieran's hand rested lightly on the small of her back, and he glanced at her, a small smile on his face. "Calm down," he whispered to her.

They were outside, waiting for the Dowager's arrival as custom required. Katherine glanced at Astrid, who stood beside her, and the woman winked, helping to ease her nerves. She had told Kieran that it was better for her to stay away during her arrival, but he was insistent.

"She's here," Kieran murmured, eyes narrowing as he caught sight of the cars in the distance.
