POV: Anna Rostenkowski

Somebody was already unpacking when I got to the dorm room.

"Hey!" She stood up to greet me with an over-the-top level of excitement, "I'm Megan Taylor."I smiled, took her hand, and shook it, "I'm Anna."She was a red-head with a nerdy face and half-eye glasses.Ugh, really? A nerd for my entire dorm life?I had nothing against people's appearance or idiosyncrasies. None of them mattered much because I needn't have to be with them for a long time. After hanging out with someone like Linda, my thoughts seemed to have changed. For the first time, I did care about how someone looked and wanted to change something in them.I just wanted to have someone around like Linda – someone cool and... someone who got along with me.I don't know what was so special about Linda but she'd caught my attention right from the moment I had to wake her up on the bus. Her face was rounded to a perfect oval shape and had beautiful grey eyes. It might be the first time in my life having seen someone with grey eyes. The moment she'd opened her eyes on the bus, her face could've been put up as an application to a beauty pageant. The sun rays interacted with her grey eyes and made it so captivating that I just begged that I wasn't caught staring at them for too long. When I stood next to her, I was shorter than her but it wasn't much of a difference. Her legs were slender and appeared she was pretty athletic. Her blonde ponytail extended down her shoulders and thinking about them now, I had a robust and weird urge to fondle it.What the hell?I snapped back into reality and saw the look on my roommate's face. She was expecting an answer."Ohh, sorry I wasn't listening," I apologized, "What was that again?"A pained look crossed her face before putting up a stoic smile and shaking her head."Nothing," She replied and went back to sorting her things.I felt kinda bad but I remembered the competition.I had to see her in her room.Getting motivated, I occupied the other bed in the room and put down my suitcase. Megan had already put some of her clothes in her closet near the bed and I decided to do the same. My hands were moving faster than usual and I finished unpacking everything I needed – toiletries, towels, change of clothes. I hurriedly threw them in the closet and not caring to close the closet after I was done. Without even remembering to inform Megan that I was going out, I hurried out of my room and down the hallway.19... 20... 21... 22... Aha!"I'm the first one!" I announced after barging in and noticing a pair of unfamiliar eyes drawing up on me. Intense heat flushed across my cheeks and ear tips.Linda chuckled somewhere from the inside. Looking around, I found her to be sitting down on the floor and stowing away her suitcase on the bottom-most rack of her closet."I was so close to–" She stopped abruptly as she glanced at me, "Wait, are you blushing?!"I cupped my hands around my cheeks as if I was checking. "N-No! What makes you think that?"Linda suppressed a laugh but her lips drew into a tight smile, "Because you're all red? Duh."I looked away from her gaze and towards her bed which was neat and didn't have anything on it."Probably because I rushed all the way here?""Sure," Linda said and went back to stowing things in her closet, "And this is Yuna by the way," She hinted to the other girl sitting on her bed, "My roommate."I glanced at her and gave her a greeting nod. She was a whole lot cooler and in my opinion, better than Megan. She had smooth brown hair and a slender waist."I'm Anna," I introduced myself, to be polite. The other thing she was better than my roommate was that she didn't have the over-the-top excitement that startled people. She was calm and the type of person who I could manage sharing a room with for some time. But still, I felt a subtle, uncomfortable feeling bubbling within me when I remembered that she was Linda's roommate.Something's wrong with me, I thought and refocused my attention towards Linda, not that it had been anywhere else apart from a short moment when I was introducing myself to Yuna."Yuna told me that she's supposed to be a senior!" Linda said and Yuna smiled."Ohh," I said with an odd sense of relief spreading inside me, "Are you done yet?""Yeah almost," She turns towards me and seems to contemplate her decision. After a long time of weighing the options while staring at me, she says, "You know what? You're already here first. No biggie in doing this later."I tried to suppress the overly-obvious excitement that coursed through my wide grin. She got up and I was caught staring at her slender thighs when she waved her hand in front of my eyes to see if I was still present."What're you looking at? Come on,""Y-Yeah let's go!""We'll be right back Yuna," Linda informed her roommate in the sweetest way I had ever witnessed, "Or maybe you want to join us?"No! Don't! Please say no! I have so many things to discuss with Linda, please say no!Yuna smiled and got up from her bed. I had lost hope now and was confirmed she was joining us too before I saw her pick up a phone from the nightstand beside her bed."Thanks, but I'll have to pass," She replied, "I have to talk with my parents. Haven't done it in a long time and they get worried sick if I don't call often.""Ohh, okay never mind then," I blurted out and hoped I wasn't being rude, "Maybe next time?" I didn't even wait for her to answer and tugged Linda out of the room before she got any more crazy ideas. Linda followed beside me without protesting and it felt so freaking good to be with her.It almost seemed like I was madly in love with her.No. I told myself, It's not like that. I love being with her as a friend. The urge to be in seclusion with your best friend is pretty common for people. Everything's normal.Or was it?
