Suspicious act in front of the door

"Eve," Emily's voice was frantic, a stark contrast to her usual composed self. "I just saw Fiona standing in front of your door. Are you alright? Did anything happen?"

Eve bolted upright in bed, her heart pounding as Emily's words echoed in her mind. "Fiona was outside my dorm?"

She swung her legs over the side of the bed, the room suddenly felt much smaller, more confining. The gentle afternoon light streaming through the curtains did little to dispel the unease that was creeping over her.

"Yes," Emily's voice came through the phone, laced with concern. "I was coming to see you, and I spotted her just standing there, close to your door. At first, I thought she was waiting for someone, but then I realized she was just... listening."

Her mind raced. Why would Fiona be lingering outside her dorm? "Did she see you?" Eve asked, her voice a whisper, as if speaking too loudly might somehow make Fiona appear.
