Came to continue what was left off

Eve and Emily stepped inside the dormitory, the warm lighting contrasting with the cool, moonlit night outside.

As they made their way up the stairs Emily cast her a sidelong glance. "Something on your mind?" she asked with a knowing smile.

Eve shook her head, forcing a small laugh. "No, just thinking about the night."

She shrugged, though her eyes lingered on Eve for a moment longer before she smiled. "It was fun, though, right? I didn't expect it to be this lively."

"It was," Eve agreed, though her thoughts were still on Victor's whispered words.

As they reached Eve's floor, Emily waved goodnight. "I'm heading to bed. Try to get some sleep, okay?"

"Goodnight," Eve replied, offering a faint smile. But as Emily disappeared down the hall, Eve's gaze drifted to her room.

Her mind was still replaying the moment with Victor. "Keep the windows unlocked tonight."
