A Duke's Helping Hand

Alice stiffly followed Sirius as he led them into narrow alleyways and turned so often she lost count. Gone were the butterflies in her stomach when he held her hand. It was replaced by the nervous beating of her heart, fearing the worst for the both of them.

They turn on a dark, narrow alleyway. Then turn again.

Sirius pulled her into a skinny gap in between the walls, their bodies so close she felt his breath on her face. They wait with bated breaths.

Their enhanced hearing clearly heard the footsteps growing slower as they searched for them.

The footsteps stop just outside of the alley.

If the follower had enhanced hearing too, he'd surely hear the loud beating of Alice's heart. But they didn't because they merely walked away.

"I'm sorry for pulling you into this crammy space," Sirius whispers. Goosebumps rise all over her body. "We can get out."
