Good People Have Good Returns

Yang Kai threw a punch, the fierce wind howling as it struck the left row of eyes on the flower-patterned spider, instantly bursting two of them.

The flower-patterned spider was horrified. Its limited intelligence caused it to fear this bloodied but exhilarated figure before it. It tried to retract the leg embedded in Yang Kai's arm, but his tensed muscles held it fast, preventing its escape.

Yang Kai's second punch whistled through the air, bursting two more of the spider's eyes.

The spider screeched in pain, its body retreating continuously, its remaining legs flailing wildly, leaving rows of shallow but bleeding wounds on Yang Kai's body.

The pain only made Yang Kai more excited, filling him with seemingly boundless energy. With a cruel smile, he unleashed a barrage of increasingly heavy and rapid punches, smashing the spider's head open and splattering its bodily fluids.

Amidst its agonized screeches, the flower-patterned spider desperately spewed webs from its mouth. At such close range, Yang Kai couldn't dodge and was quickly wrapped up.

However, the spider itself was also in a dire state, its head nearly shattered. If not for its tenacious vitality as a demon beast, it would have already perished.

After expelling its last web, the spider ceased struggling, finally succumbing to Yang Kai's relentless assault.

Yang Kai could hardly believe he had so easily defeated and killed a demon beast.

Even though it was only a first-level demon beast, it was not something a fifth-level Body Tempering cultivator could easily handle. Despite his injuries, he felt they were not severe.

Confirming the spider was dead, Yang Kai then extracted its leg from his arm, causing a spurt of warm blood.

Ignoring his wounds, Yang Kai quickly tore off the webs binding him and hurriedly carried the boy outside.

The boy's father, finally freed from the webs, came running, his face full of concern as he saw Yang Kai covered in blood carrying his son. "How is he?" he asked urgently.

"He's lost a lot of blood and is poisoned," Yang Kai replied.

Outside the cave, Yang Kai laid the boy on the ground, then retrieved his pack, chewing some herbs and handing more to the hunter. "Chew these hard and feed them to him."

The hunter, disoriented, followed Yang Kai's instructions without hesitation, chewing the herbs vigorously.

Yang Kai's mind was astonishingly clear at that moment, vividly recalling the medicinal properties of the herbs, their uses for detoxification, healing, and more, akin to a knowledgeable physician.

After a short while, Yang Kai applied the chewed herbs to the boy's arm, while the hunter fed the herbs to his son.

Under their anxious watch, the boy's pale face slowly regained some color, and his breathing steadied.

The hunter's tense heart finally relaxed, and he collapsed to the ground, weeping uncontrollably, "Thank goodness he's alright, thank goodness…"

Yang Kai, however, warned, "He's not out of danger yet. These herbs are only basic remedies to alleviate his symptoms. He needs proper medical treatment to avoid lasting effects."

The hunter, trusting Yang Kai completely, said, "I'll take him to a doctor right away."

"Not so fast," Yang Kai stopped him. "Let him stabilize first."

"Yes, you're right," the hunter agreed, having lost his sense of direction after the ordeal. He now deferred to Yang Kai in everything.

Suddenly, the hunter remembered Yang Kai was also injured. "Shouldn't you treat your wounds?" he asked, concerned.

"No need," Yang Kai waved him off.

"But you've lost so much blood. How can you endure it?" The hunter looked at him in astonishment.

"I don't know," Yang Kai replied, jumping up and down. "I feel fine."

More than fine, he felt exhilarated. Yang Kai suspected this had something to do with his Indomitable Golden Body but couldn't explain it to the hunter. Recalling the recent battle, he felt his blood boil with excitement.

"This isn't over yet," Yang Kai suddenly remembered. He grabbed his pack and rushed back into the cave.

The hunter assumed he was going to collect the demon beast's corpse, but that wasn't the case.

Although the spider was a demon beast, its corpse had little value due to its low level.

Yang Kai returned to the cave to gather herbs.

During the fight, he had noticed a patch of purple flowers inside the cave. Now, he was thrilled to remember them.

If he was right, those flowers were the Three-Leaf Soul Restoring Flowers he urgently needed!

The Three-Leaf Soul Restoring Flower grew in damp, dark places filled with corpses, perfectly matching the cave's environment.

Full of anticipation, Yang Kai found the flowers and almost laughed out loud.

The saying that good deeds bring rewards seemed true! Had he not come to rescue the hunter and his son, he wouldn't have encountered this good fortune.

Before him was a large patch of purple flowers, indeed the Three-Leaf Soul Restoring Flowers, numbering around forty. The sight of the clustered purple blooms was delightful.

Without delay, Yang Kai collected the flowers.

Satisfied with his haul, he noticed something like a dark red mushroom in a corner of the cave.

Intrigued, Yang Kai examined it closely. The mushroom-like object was about the size of a bowl, dark red, resembling both a mushroom and a lingzhi. It was something he didn't recognize, not listed in the guidebook given by Meng the shopkeeper.

Could it be a rare treasure? Yang Kai, ready to take his chances, decided to collect it anyway.

When Yang Kai emerged from the cave, his pack was bulging.

"Let's go, I'll accompany you down the mountain," Yang Kai told the waiting hunter.

"Thank you," the hunter said gratefully, believing Yang Kai was concerned about their safety.

"It's just on the way. No need to thank me," Yang Kai replied, and they hurried down the mountain.

By dusk, they reached Wumei Town and quickly found a clinic.

Guess what level of treasure that mushroom-like thing turned out to be…
